Indian festival in the heart of Europe will flood the streets of the old City. 

Participants dressed in colourful costumes will march through the city center, singing matras, rhythmical ringing of small bells and burning incense sticks.

This march will traditionally kick off the event, which program will continue at náměstí Republiky, beginning at 3 p.m. The march will start at the same place at 12 o’clock.

“The festival aims to remind people of spiritual values ​​and show them a higher taste of life, which they may miss in the pursuit of fleeting consumption. It also helps bring people together regardless of age, nationality, race, religion, or social status,” says the co-organizer Radhika Sundari Madhava.

“We want to introduce as many people as possible to this ancient and amazing festival and the culture of the soul it represents. The festival is popular all over the world because it appeals to everyone, regardless of language or state,” she adds.

Ratha Yatra is one of the oldest spiritual festivals in the world. It has been held in India for hundreds of years. It was founded in the city of Puri in the Odisha Indian state and is connected with the Hindu God Krishna.

Ratha means a chariot and yatra means a pilgrimage or procession in Sanskrit. Admission is free, as well as the tasting of Indian dishes.
