Celebrate Easter at Mariánské Square with Charity Markets and Folk Traditions
Prague Morning
Once again, the capital is hosting its successful Easter celebration in Mariánské Square.
From Friday, March 20, until Monday, April 6, Prague residents and visitors will have the opportunity to experience a pleasant festive atmosphere and buy Easter products from non-profit organizations, protected workshops, and small craftsmen at the markets in the city center.
The event will be enriched by a vibrant cultural program, an open-air exhibition of photographs showcasing the most beautiful folk costumes, and a special display featuring traditional Czech attire alongside the Mayor’s Easter Collection.
The official opening of the traditional markets, accompanied by a festive program in Mariánské Square, will take place this Friday with the participation of representatives of the capital.
Visitors can explore a variety of stalls offering painted Easter eggs, braided Easter whips, ceramics, and textile products. Ten of the stands will be dedicated to social enterprises, sheltered workshops, and local artisans. The market’s offerings will be further complemented by Easter delicacies, beverages, and seasonal spring specialties.
Easter in Mariánské Square will also feature a rich accompanying program. On selected weekends, visitors can enjoy folk music, dance performances, theater, and creative workshops for children.
A highlight of this year’s event is the outdoor exhibition of folk costumes. Large-format photographs will present traditional attire from Bohemia, Moravia, and Silesia, offering insight into their diversity, color, and regional distinctions.
The exhibition will also include an overview of traditional Czech costumes, helping visitors place individual garments within their regional context and better appreciate their diversity. Designed as an open-air installation, the exhibition will be freely accessible to all.

Another important part of the program is the Mayor’s Easter Food Collection, which offers visitors the opportunity to support those most in need.
This year, the capital, in cooperation with the Food Bank for Prague and the Central Bohemian Region, will organize the collection on Thursday, March 26, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in front of the New Town Hall building on Mariánské Square.
