President Pavel hands out high state distinctions to 56 personalities
At an October 28 ceremony for Czechoslovak Independence Day, President Pavel awarded high state honors to 56 individuals for their service to the nation. Among those honored posthumously were Pope John Paul II, General Sergej Jan Ingr, and Brigadier General František Moravec.

Czech Prime Minister Fiala Opens Profile On TikTok
Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS) has opened a profile on the Chinese video-sharing app TikTok. He added that all security matters had been ensured. Other politicians, especially opposition figures, have also previously set up accounts on TikTok.

Czech Railways fined for breaching EU antitrust rules
The European Commission has fined the Czech rail carrier České dráhy and Austria's ÖBB a total of 48.7m euros (1.2bn CZK) for breaching EU antitrust rules. It was found that ČD and ÖBB colluded to prevent a new entrant, the Czech company RegioJet, from accessing used wagons, thus restricting competition on the rail-passenger transport market.
