Christmas at Czech Castles - Tours and Programs This Year

Czech castles and châteaux offer a distinctive way to experience the Advent and Christmas season.
From festive decorations and craft markets to guided tours highlighting historic holiday traditions, these landmarks provide seasonal experiences for families and visitors of all ages. Many sites also remain open for New Year’s tours, allowing for an extended holiday visit.
Loučeň Château
This Baroque residence, surrounded by extensive gardens and labyrinths, hosts The Story of the Christmas Tree exhibition from November 17, 2025, to January 17, 2026. Evening visits include the Labyrinths of Light, where the castle park is illuminated for a seasonal walk. On November 29, 2025, the château will display the country’s largest Advent wreath in the courtyard fountain. December programs include Advent tours and special activities for children.

Karlštejn Castle
Karlštejn Castle, a Gothic landmark founded by Charles IV, will be decorated for Advent, offering visitors insight into historical holiday traditions. Seasonal tours, including The Imperial Residence of Charles IV, are available from November 28, 2025, to January 4, 2026, every Friday through Sunday.

Třeboň Château
Set in a UNESCO-listed pond landscape, Třeboň Château was historically associated with the Schwarzenberg family. From November 29, 2025, to January 2, 2026, visitors can join guided tours including The Last Prince’s Christmas (December 13–14) and children’s tours (December 30–January 2). Advent markets are scheduled for December 6–7 in the château courtyard.

Sychrov Château
Sychrov Château features festive decorations, Christmas trees, hand-blown ornaments, and traditional treats. The château will host Advent markets on November 29–30, 2025, along with a series of Christmas tours (December 6–7, 13–14, 20–21), a concert on December 26, and a post-Christmas castle walk from December 27 to January 4, 2026.
Valtice Château
Valtice Château, part of the Lednice–Valtice Cultural Landscape, offers self-guided tours of the Franz I period apartments from November 11 to December 23, 2025. The Baroque interiors feature ten Christmas trees and thousands of handmade decorations, including glass ornaments from Czech workshops. Visitors can also book workshops to create their own decorations on December 6 and 13.
Jindřichův Hradec and Křivoklát
Jindřichův Hradec offers theatre, music, and artisan markets during Advent on December 6–7, 2025. Křivoklát Castle features Old Bohemian Markets on December 6–7 and 13–14, with mulled wine, traditional food, and artisan stands, allowing visitors to explore the castle at their own pace.

Villa Stiassni
Brno’s Villa Stiassni offers Advent tours showcasing 1920s–30s interiors, period toys, and a Christmas tree decorated with historical glass ornaments. Tours run from November 29 to December 16 and December 27–31, 2025, highlighting how Christmas was celebrated in a Jewish entrepreneur’s family home during the First Republic.
Dětenice Castle
Dětenice Castle is open daily in December with seasonal decorations. On December 6, 2025, children can enjoy a St. Nicholas celebration, and on December 6 and 13, evening Krampus Shows feature medieval-style performances. On December 13, the castle park hosts a Christmas Food Festival with live carols and traditional holiday foods.
