Czech Weather Forecast: Snow in Mountains, 25°C Midweek

Prague Morning

It might be May, but the weather across Czechia is more reminiscent of early April.

Over the coming days, cold and humid air from northeastern Europe will continue to affect the country, bringing with it chilly temperatures, rainfall, and even snow in the mountains—a far cry from typical spring expectations.

Despite the cold start, a short-lived warm spell is expected midweek, with temperatures climbing to 25°C.

Monday won’t bring much change. Expect cloudy to overcast skies, particularly over the northeastern half of the country, with occasional rain or showers. Precipitation should gradually diminish by evening.

Overnight temperatures will fall to 4–8°C, and in parts of the southwest, it may drop to around 2°C, allowing for ground frost in some areas. Daytime highs will range from 13°C to 17°C, but northern and northeastern regions will likely remain cooler, peaking around 12°C. Winds from the northwest will ease to 2 to 6 m/s by the evening.

On Tuesday, clear to partly cloudy skies will finally return for much of the country, although clouds and light rain may persist in the northeast. Daytime temperatures will rise significantly to 18°C to 22°C, offering a brief spring respite.

Nights will remain chilly, dropping to 4–8°C, and again dipping to 2°C in parts of the southwest, with ground frost likely. Winds will stay light and variable, up to 4 m/s.

Wednesday promises to be the warmest day of the week, with highs reaching 21°C to 25°C. The morning will begin with clear to partly cloudy skies, which will become cloudier by the afternoon, especially in the southeast, where spring thunderstorms and showers may develop.

Nighttime temperatures will cool back to 4–8°C, with light, variable winds continuing across the country.

Thursday will bring another dip in temperatures, with daytime highs of 15°C to 19°C. However, in the southeast, temperatures may still reach 22°C. The day will be mostly cloudy to overcast, with intermittent showers across the country.

Clouds and rain should begin to dissipate from the northwest as the day progresses. Overnight lows will settle between 7°C and 11°C, with moderate northwest winds blowing at 2 to 6 m/s.

Looking ahead to Friday and the weekend, there’s little sign of long-term stability. Expect partly to mostly cloudy skies, with occasional rain or showers.

Overnight lows will drop to 3–8°C, and in areas with reduced cloud cover, temperatures may fall to just 1°C. By Sunday night, the mercury will rise slightly, ranging from 7°C to 11°C.

Daily highs from Friday to Sunday are forecast to stay within 14°C to 18°C, with a gradual increase up to 22°C by the end of the weekend.
