Czechia Braces for 33°C Temperatures This Weekend
Prague Morning
After a few cooler days, summer is making a strong comeback across Czechia.
Warm air from the southwest has started moving in, pushing up temperatures—and by the weekend, we could be looking at highs of up to 33°C, according to the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (CHMI).
Friday is expected to stay mostly clear, with temperatures climbing to around 32°C in most areas. Winds will stay light, occasionally shifting from the west or southwest. Some localised showers or storms could pop up in the afternoon, but most of the country will stay dry.
Saturday will bring the kind of weather people hope for in August—sunny, hot, and still. Morning lows will fall between 12 and 16°C, with a few colder spots in valleys dropping to around 9°C.
But the day will heat up fast, peaking between 29 and 33°C. There’s little to no wind in the forecast, which will make the heat feel even more intense.
Sunday starts off much like Saturday—warm and mostly sunny. Morning temperatures will be slightly higher, ranging from 14 to 18°C. But as the afternoon rolls in, expect the first signs of instability.
Forecasters say isolated thunderstorms or showers could develop later in the day. Winds will stay calm in the morning but may pick up slightly from the north in the afternoon.
The heat will hold steady, with highs once again pushing up to 33°C, especially in southern and central parts of the country.
