After a cold end to March, Czechia is set for a much warmer Easter weekend, with temperatures expected to climb above 20 degrees Celsius in some areas on Sunday.

Meteorologists say the shift is being driven by a change in atmospheric circulation across Europe. Warm air is moving north between a low-pressure system over the British Isles and a large high-pressure zone over southwestern Europe.

The warmest conditions are expected in France and on the Iberian Peninsula, where temperatures could rise above 30 degrees Celsius early next week.

Czechia will also feel the impact of the warmer air, although temperatures will remain lower than in western Europe.

Saturday is expected to bring calmer and milder conditions after several colder days. Most of the country should see cloudy to partly cloudy skies, with occasional showers in some areas. Daytime temperatures are forecast to range from 11 to 16 degrees Celsius, while mountain areas may stay closer to seven degrees.

The biggest change will come on Sunday, when much of the country is expected to enjoy partly cloudy or mostly clear skies. Afternoon temperatures could reach between 17 and 22 degrees Celsius, bringing the warmest weather Czechia has seen in weeks.

Nighttime temperatures will also rise, staying around seven degrees Celsius in many places.

The warmer weather is not expected to last for long. Forecasters say clouds will increase from the northwest on Sunday afternoon, with scattered evening showers possible. Some areas in Bohemia could also see thunderstorms.

By Easter Monday, temperatures are expected to fall back slightly, reaching between 12 and 16 degrees Celsius during the day. Skies are likely to remain mostly cloudy, with showers in some regions. In higher mountain areas above 1,200 meters, snowfall is also possible.
