Dan Brown Returns to Prague in September to Unveil His Latest Thriller

Prague Morning

Dan Brown is returning to the spotlight with his latest thriller, The Secret of All Secrets, set entirely in Prague.

The internationally renowned author will present the novel in the Czech capital this September, although the exact date and venue remain undisclosed.

What’s already confirmed, however, is that Netflix has secured the rights to adapt the book into a series, with Brown and showrunner Carlton Cuse (Lost, Jack Ryan) attached to the project.

The novel, to be published simultaneously in English and Czech on September 9, follows the familiar protagonist, Professor Robert Langdon, who arrives in Prague for a lecture by noetics researcher Katherine Solomon. Their plans quickly unravel following a gruesome murder, a disappearance, and the resurfacing of ancient Prague legends that drive the plot into deeper mystery.

According to publisher Argo, the book weaves Prague’s gothic landmarks, folklore, and esoteric history into a narrative full of puzzles, codes, and conspiracies. The Charles Bridge and Old Town Bridge Tower even feature prominently on the cover.

This isn’t Brown’s first encounter with Prague. He has visited the city several times, including a 2021 performance at Municipal House, where the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, under Kryštof Marek, performed his Wild Symphony. The event showcased Brown not just as a writer, but also as a composer and pianist.

The author, known for global bestsellers like The Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons, and Inferno, has described The Secret of All Secrets as his “most ambitious” work to date. “Also the most fun of all,” Brown commented. “Writing it was an unforgettable journey full of discoveries.”

Brown’s novels have long been known to drive tourism, turning cities into literary destinations. From Paris to Florence, readers have followed Langdon’s trail in real life. Now, Prague is preparing for a similar phenomenon.

“This book has huge potential to bring readers to Prague,” said František Reismüller of CzechTourism. “Just like Paris or Rome, we can expect an influx of fans eager to walk in Langdon’s footsteps. It’s an opportunity to promote not just Prague, but also lesser-known parts of the country.”

The TV adaptation is expected to follow closely behind the book’s release. While no filming schedule has been confirmed, Netflix’s early involvement suggests the project is a priority. Given the massive global success of previous film adaptations—The Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons, and Inferno collectively grossed over $2.2 billion—expectations for the series are high.
