The Modern Composers International Music Festival (ModComFest) is set to return for its fourth edition from the 14th of September to the 3rd of October 2025, being primarily hosted in the French capital of Paris, as well as the southern Italian city of Chieti.

This year, the festival, led by President Konstantin Ishkhanov, shall be honouring the distinguished French-Armenian composer Michel Petrossian, who is widely celebrated for his unique fusion of historic traditions and contemporary innovation.

Established in 2016, with two further editions taking place in 2019 and 2022, ModComFest is dedicated to promoting modern and contemporary composers, and has previously spotlighted luminaries such as Joseph Vella, Georgs Pelēcis, and Qigang Chen. Under the leadership of Konstantin Ishkhanov, the festival has garnered acclaim for enriching the classical music landscape by showcasing innovative voices, and providing space and exposure for new artists to rise alongside the giants of the past.

This 2025 edition promises attendees an array of captivating performances across iconic venues in two of Europe’s most celebrated, culturally-rich nations, including such locations as the Auditorium du Petit Palais, the Auditorium du CRR de Paris, and the Théâtre de Saint-Maur, amongst others. The festival will open in Chieti on September 14th, before heading to Paris, with further concerts scheduled to take place on the 20th of September, and the 2nd and 3rd of October.

Reflecting on the festival’s significance, Konstantin Ishkhanov remarked that “the Modern Composers International Music Festival represents a great project for classical music and culture all around the world. All of us within the organising committee are very proud to be able to collaborate with these prestigious ensembles with joy and optimism towards the world of arts and culture, which brings unique values and opportunities to all classical music lovers worldwide”.

Across its four dates, ModComFest will be featuring renowned ensembles and artists, including cellist Alexander Chaushian, pianist Chae-Um Kim, violinist Dorothée Nodé-Langlois, and violist Claire Merlet, along with the Ensemble Musicatreize, under the direction of Roland Hayrabédian, Ensemble 2e2m, conducted by Léo Margue, and the Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain, led by Bruno Mantovani, who will join dancers from the dance company Compagnie Hallet-Eghayan.

Programme highlights, meanwhile, include such renowned works as the 8.4 Concerto for Cello and Orchestra, as well as the acclaimed ballet “Sept, les anges de Sinjar,” co-composed by Petrossian and Aram Hovhannisyan, which is inspired by Yazidi mythology and previously premiered at the Monte-Carlo Spring Arts Festival.

Michel Petrossian himself expressed his enthusiasm about this upcoming event, stating that “I find it exciting to be involved in this project with a professional team that truly knows what it’s doing. I feel very fortunate to have friends and music enthusiasts like Konstantin Ishkhanov around me who appreciate my art and support my interesting projects.”

As the 2025 ModComFest approaches, audiences can look forward to what promises to be an unforgettable celebration of contemporary classical music, offering classical music lovers worldwide the unique opportunity to experience Michel Petrossian inimitable talent being brought to life by world-class musicians in the heart of Europe.
