Marc Márquez Makes History in Brno with Fifth Straight Victory

MotoGP returned to the Automotodrom Brno this weekend, drawing nearly 220,000 spectators to the 5.4-kilometer circuit, known for its elevation changes and long, fast corners.

Marc Márquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) delivered another dominant performance, taking his fifth consecutive Grand Prix victory — a new record for a Ducati rider. He finished with a time of 40:04.628, continuing a season that has seen him in top form.

Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) finished second, 1.7 seconds behind, while Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) reached the podium for the first time this year, finishing third after holding his position against pressure from Francesco Bagnaia in the final laps.

The race began with Bagnaia in front, but Bezzecchi quickly moved ahead. In the early stages, Álex Márquez, currently second in the standings, crashed while attempting a pass at Turn 12, colliding with Joan Mir (Honda HRC Castrol) and forcing both riders to retire. Enea Bastianini (Red Bull KTM Tech3) also crashed a few laps later, ending any hopes of finishing in the top five.

The key moment came on Lap 8, when Marc Márquez overtook Bezzecchi between Turns 3 and 4. From there, he increased his pace and gradually opened a gap, setting consistent laps in the low 1:53 range, which no one else could match.

Bagnaia had secured his first pole position of the 2025 season, though qualifying was not without incident. Márquez fell less than a second after Johann Zarco’s crash under yellow flags, leading to discussion about whether he should be penalized. However, race officials concluded that he had no time to react, allowing his result to stand.

Saturday’s sprint race already showed that Ducati had a speed advantage, and by Sunday, Márquez was clearly the rider to beat.

In the championship standings, Márquez now leads with 381 points, 120 ahead of his brother Álex Márquez. In the team rankings, Ducati Lenovo Team remains far in front with 594 points, followed by BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP with 358.

The season continues with the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring (August 15–17). After five straight wins, the focus now turns to whether anyone can slow Márquez down as he moves closer to a seventh world title.
