* STATISTICS:
Last year, breweries in the Czech Republic produced approximately 20 million hectoliters of beer, marking a decrease of 2.7 percent compared to the previous year, as reported by the Czech Beer and Malt Association. The average per capita consumption experienced a decline, reaching its lowest point in history. Comparing figures to 2022, consumption dropped from 136 to 128 liters per capita annually.
* TRAVEL
On Tuesday, May 7th, the Georgian airline Georgian Wings launched its first direct flight from Tbilisi to Prague. The carrier’s aircraft will operate between the capitals twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
* WEATHER:

* PUBLIC TRANSPORT:
DPP has finally tendered the long-awaited contract for the construction contractor of the third Prague trolleybus line, which is intended to connect Na Knížecí terminal in Smíchov with the terminus near Waltrovka. Currently, the route is serviced by route number 137; however, upon completion of the electrification, the trolleybuses are expected to operate under the number 52.
* EQUALITY:
The Czech Republic’s highest court on Tuesday ruled to dismiss part of a law requiring people to undergo gender-affirmation surgery, including sterilization, in order to officially change their gender. Lawmakers must change the affected sections of the law by the middle of next year.
