Nerd Alert, a board game bistro and store in Prague’s Vršovice, has been creating a vibrant space for fun, art, and meaningful human connections since opening in October.

Dagmar and her husband left their corporate jobs to turn their lifetime dream into reality. They created Nerd Alert, a space where people can connect, unwind, and play.

A place to play

Nerd Alert welcomes both locals and expats to relax, play, and truly be themselves. As owner, Victor Duke says, “Don’t forget to be yourself when you visit us. We welcome everybody.”

The bistro introduces a fresh concept for social gatherings, offering board games in both English and Czech.

Whether you’re a long-term resident or new to the city, Nerd Alert provides a welcoming space to meet people, and enjoy a fun night by playing board games from all over the world.

Visitors often describe Nerd Alert as feeling like a living room, with soft lighting, comfortable seating, and tasty snacks that make it easy to linger for hours. The space blends a board game bistro — with a kitchen and a bar — with a friendly local game store, offering a curated selection of games, art books, and specialty items, including exclusive products from Hollow Press.

The story behind Nerd Alert

Behind the relaxed and cozy atmosphere lies an inspiring story. Dagmar and her husband previously worked in demanding professional roles that required a great deal of commitment and responsibility, just like many others — until they realized they were seeking a different kind of fulfillment. They left their corporate careers and poured their passion into creating a space built with love, warmth, and personality.

Stepping into Nerd Alert feels immediately welcoming. The cozy atmosphere invites guests to settle in, connect with others, and lose track of time over a great game while eating tapas and refreshing themselves with a good drink. It’s the kind of place where you instantly feel at home and want to stay just a little longer.

What’s on the table

Food at Nerd Alert is designed to be easy to enjoy while playing. The bistro focuses on game-friendly dishes and provides practical touches such as chopsticks, wet napkins, and silicone gloves, allowing guests to eat comfortably.

The menu balances lighter options, including chicken strips, popcorn, mozzarella sticks, baked cheese nachos, homemade hummus, fries, and more. A wide range of drinks is available as well, from coffee and tea to milkshakes, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

For those seeking more privacy, Nerd Alert offers rentable game rooms, most commonly used for tabletop role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons, private events, and celebrations.

The entry fee for the bistro is just 50 CZK per person. They also host regular quizzes where teams can test their knowledge across various themes.

Nerd Alert is located at Bulharská 924/26, 101 00 Praha 10 – Vršovice.

They are open daily from 17:00 until midnight, except on Mondays. Plus, in true board game spirit, closing hours are flexible — if you’re deep in a game, they may stay open longer.
