New Openings: Crayfish and Seafood Take Center Stage at Rakin
Prague Morning

A new addition to Prague’s dining scene is making waves—by bringing crayfish and premium seafood into sharper focus.
Rakin, a recently opened restaurant in Dejvice, builds its concept around simple, quality seafood dishes, with crayfish at its heart.
The focus is on fresh seafood prepared with restraint. Fish is cooked using the a la plancha method—a high-heat technique where the meat is quickly seared with just oil and salt, allowing the natural flavor to shine.
Other options include fried fish, tartares, carpaccios, and street food-style dishes like an octopus hot dog or a cod taco.
Crayfish are the main attraction, served in different styles—from a spicy Cajun sauce to a more classic creamy garlic variation.
The seafood is sourced from markets in the Netherlands and France, while the crayfish come from Romania—currently one of the few places in Europe where they are still available in larger quantities.
Though the menu leans toward international seafood, it remains accessible. Main courses are priced in the range of CZK 350–400, aiming to bring premium ingredients to a wider public.

A standout offering is the whole boiled lobster, served with crispy fries and accompanied by two signature dips—aioli and spicy sambal—priced at 1,160 CZK
Rakin’s Louisiana Boil, a festive seafood platter ideal for sharing, is priced at CZK 1 750. It combines a generous selection of shellfish, corn, and potatoes, all seasoned in a traditional spicy Cajun style—laid out communal-style for a convivial experience.
Another highlight is the Tasting Seafood Selection, priced at CZK 2 200. This tasting set includes 300 g each of tiger prawns, Argentinian red prawns, Greenland prawns, and crayfish, served with fries.
The à la carte section also offers fresh crustaceans for smaller gatherings. A live brown crab (cca 700 g) is available for CZK 540, served simply to showcase its rich, natural flavor. For crayfish lovers, there’s a 0.5 kg live Louisiana crayfish set, typically around CZK 375–425, prepared either Cajun-style or in a creamy garlic sauce.
The Belgian mussels with fries are prepared in white wine and garlic—and represent a classic seafood starter that complements the restaurant’s bolder shellfish offerings.
A rotating wine selection offers something for every palate, including natural, biodynamic, and non-alcoholic wines, with both Moravian and international labels. The drinks menu is rounded out by homemade kombucha and other soft options.
