Placebo Marks 30 Years With Special Anniversary Show in Prague
Prague Morning
British alternative rock band Placebo is set to return to Prague this autumn, bringing a milestone performance to the city.
The group will play at Fortuna Sports Hall on November 15, celebrating three decades since the release of their debut album.
The concert is part of the band’s 30th anniversary tour, built around their upcoming project Placebo RE:CREATED. The release revisits their 1996 debut, the record that first introduced their sound and image to a wider audience.
When the album originally came out, it stood apart from the dominant Britpop scene of the time. While many bands leaned into traditional British themes, Placebo took a different route, exploring topics such as identity, sexuality, addiction, and alienation. That approach helped shape their reputation as one of the more distinctive acts of the era.
Now, nearly 30 years later, the band is revisiting that material with a new perspective. The reworked album includes updated versions of all original tracks, along with additional songs from the same period.
Well-known singles like “Nancy Boy” and “36 Degrees” have been revisited, reflecting how the songs have evolved through years of live performances.
The new album is scheduled for release on June 19, 2026.
Placebo’s early image and lyrics also played a role in pushing conversations around gender and identity into the mainstream. At a time when such themes were rarely addressed in popular rock music, the band’s aesthetic challenged expectations and helped create space for alternative voices.
Tickets for the Prague show will start at 1,400 CZK, excluding booking fees. Several pre-sale phases are planned, beginning with a fan club pre-sale on March 24, followed by a Live Nation pre-sale on March 25.
General ticket sales open on March 27 through Ticketmaster and Ticketportal.
