Prost, Prague! Oktoberfest Returns to Holešovice in September
Prague Morning
Prague will once again bring the spirit of Munich’s Oktoberfest to the Czech capital!
From Wednesday, September 17, to Saturday, September 20, part of the Holešovice Market will be transformed into a Bavarian-style beer garden, offering visitors a taste of Germany’s most iconic festival.
The four-day event, now entering its fourth edition, promises everything that makes Oktoberfest so beloved: freshly tapped Bavarian beers, food, music, dancing, and of course, plenty of singing.
Entry will be free, with the festival open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Visitors can expect six Bavarian classics on tap, including Hofbräu Dunkel, Paulaner, and Löwenbräu, alongside a selection of special Festbiers brewed exclusively for Oktoberfest by Munich breweries.
Among the highlights will be a beer from Weihenstephaner, the world’s oldest brewery, which has been operating since 1040.
Visitors will be served their beer in the traditional way—by the liter—just as in Munich. To keep the authentic feel, organizers are also encouraging attendees to wear Bavarian clothing, though it is not mandatory. “Stylishly dressed welcome. Look in your wardrobes and wear something Bavarian,” one of the organizers noted.
Food, Music, and Contests
Beer will be paired with classic Bavarian fare: pretzels, fresh radishes, sausages, and the creamy cheese spread Obatzda. For those craving something more filling, burgers and other dishes will also be available.
The program includes live music, folk dancing, and traditional drinking songs. Beer contests are also planned, giving visitors a chance to test their strength with classic stein-holding competitions.
