Longer Intervals and Metro Closures Expected in Prague This Easter
Prague Morning
Prague commuters should prepare for delays and disruptions during the upcoming Easter holidays, with longer intervals on buses and trams and a temporary metro closure affecting key lines.
The holiday break will give schoolchildren five consecutive days off, and public transport operators are adjusting schedules accordingly, Ropid spokesman Filip Drápal said.
On Thursday, April 2, tram and bus lines in Prague will operate on “half-holiday” weekday schedules. Morning and afternoon rush hours will see slightly longer intervals, with trams delayed by one to two minutes and some bus lines running every one to three minutes slower than usual. Metro lines, however, will follow standard weekday timetables, although school-specific routes will not be in service.
From Friday, April 3, Good Friday schedules will follow Saturday timetables, with weekend schedules continuing through Easter Sunday and Monday. Normal weekday operations are expected to resume on Tuesday, April 7.
Maintenance work will also impact services across the city. Metro C will be closed between Pražského povstání and Chodov from Friday, April 3, to Monday, April 6. A replacement bus service will operate throughout the day. Between Chodov and Háje, metro trains will run as a shuttle, with a single train covering the route back and forth on each track.
Tram lines will also experience temporary interruptions. Service on the Palackého náměstí – Anděl section will be suspended from April 3 to April 6 due to ongoing repairs. Separately, the long-term suspension of tram service between Chotkovy sady and Brusnice remains in effect and is expected to continue until mid-July.
Drápal urged passengers to plan ahead and check schedules, as the combination of holiday adjustments and ongoing maintenance will affect travel times across Prague.
