Prague Reconnects with Beijing: Direct Flights Resume After Four Years

Prague Morning

After a four-year hiatus due to the global pandemic, Prague has restored its direct air link with Beijing.

This route will now operate three times a week, all year round, as announced by Prague Airport spokeswoman Klรกra Divรญลกkovรก.

In 2019, over 1.7 million tourists from Asia visited the Czech Republic, but that number dropped to 776,000 last year.

โ€œI firmly believe that the renewed direct route to Beijing will stimulate inbound tourism from China. The connection to Beijing offers a great opportunity for Czech tourists to explore not only the Chinese capital but also the rest of China and Asia, thanks to connecting flights,โ€ said Jiล™รญ Pos, Chairman of the Board of Prague Airport.

Hainan Airlines will operate flights to Beijing on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays using Airbus A330 aircraft.

Tourists from distant destinations, including China, often travel around Europe. From the Czech Republic, they visit Austria, Germany, France, and Italy. โ€œItโ€™s logical; if they are already taking a long flight, they want to experience more destinations. This direct connection will ultimately benefit European tourism as a whole,โ€ added the Director of the Czech Tourism Centre โ€“ CzechTourism.
