Ticket sales are already open, giving travelers the chance to plan their trips well in advance.
While many travelers are already familiar with Dubai or Abu Dhabi, Sharjah offers a different side of the UAE, one that focuses on heritage, culture, and history.
Known as the cultural capital of the United Arab Emirates, Sharjah has a long and rich history. Its origins date back over 5,000 years, making it one of the oldest settlements in the region.
Throughout much of the 19th and early 20th centuries, Sharjah was an important trading port on the Arabian Gulf. The city became the site of the UAE’s first airport in the 1930s, when Imperial Airways (a predecessor of British Airways) used it as a stopover on routes between Europe and India.
Today, Sharjah is famous for its museums, traditional souks, and Islamic architecture. In 1998, UNESCO named Sharjah the Cultural Capital of the Arab World, highlighting its commitment to preserving local history and promoting the arts.
The city’s landmarks include the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization, the Sharjah Art Foundation, and the restored Al Hisn Fort, once the residence of the ruling family.
Visitors can also explore the Heart of Sharjah, a heritage district undergoing major restoration, offering a glimpse of life in the UAE before the oil boom.
The first departure is scheduled for December 20, and with daily flights planned, both regions can expect closer ties in the months and years ahead.
