Bringing Inclusive Football Lessons to Children with Prague Soccer School

Prague Morning

“Prague Soccer School is all about inclusivity and giving everyone a chance,” says James Ward, the school’s founder.

Prague Soccer School was born out of Ward’s recognition that many children in Prague lacked access to welcoming, supportive environments where they could learn and enjoy football.

Determined to create a space that prioritized encouragement over competition, Ward built the school on the principles of inclusivity and accessibility. At its core, Prague Soccer School is committed to developing people, not just players. Through its programs, children cultivate a lasting love for the game, grounded in fun, confidence, and a sense of belonging.

Participants learn from trained primary school teachers and experienced coaches who understand how to engage and support young learners. This thoughtful approach helps foster an environment where every child feels valued.

As Ward explains, “lessons are led by native English-speakers in an international background,” creating a multicultural atmosphere that encourages communication and collaboration. In this setting, children not only improve their football skills but also build confidence in expressing themselves and working as part of a team.

Weekly sessions take place on Saturday mornings at Riverside Primary School in Prague 6, where children are grouped by age—4–6, 7–9, and 10–14—to ensure developmentally appropriate instruction.

The program continues to grow, with Ward noting that “over 85 children” attended the most recent session. Each lesson is carefully designed to accommodate all skill levels, allowing beginners and more experienced players alike to develop at their own pace.

By emphasizing collaboration rather than competition, the school creates a positive, team- oriented environment where encouragement is constant and progress is shared. In addition to its weekly sessions, Prague Soccer School offers summer camp programs that further expand opportunities for participation.

Taking place from July 6–10 and August 3–7 at Riverside Primary School, these camps run from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. and provide children with the chance to deepen their skills, build friendships, and immerse themselves in the joy of the game. The extended format allows for more comprehensive development while maintaining the same inclusive and supportive atmosphere that defines the school’s regular sessions.

The school also brings its philosophy of fun and accessibility to special events through customizable “Football Birthday Party” packages. With coaches and equipment provided, families can tailor the experience to fit their needs, creating memorable, active celebrations that reflect the school’s emphasis on participation and enjoyment.

As Prague Soccer School continues to grow, its mission remains clear: to ensure that every child, regardless of background or ability, has the opportunity to play, learn, and feel included.
