Two Women Hospitalized in Prague After Eating THC Gummy Bears
Prague Morning
Two young foreign women were rushed to intensive care Saturday evening after collapsing on Wenceslas Square.
Authorities believe the cause may have been THC-laced gummy bears, a form of edible cannabis.
According to emergency responders, passersby found the two women, both in their twenties, unconscious near the lower part of the square shortly after 9 p.m. Emergency services were called immediately.
“Two rescue units and two medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Both patients showed signs of intoxication with a psychoactive substance,” said Prague Emergency Services spokesperson Jakub Splavec.
Due to the critical state of both women, paramedics performed intubation on site and placed them on ventilators before transporting them to nearby intensive care units.
Their condition remains serious, though stable.
Police have confirmed that THC (tetrahydrocannabinol)—the main psychoactive compound in cannabis—is suspected to be the substance involved.
The edibles reportedly came in the form of gummy bears, which are increasingly common on the European market, sometimes sold under the radar or mislabelled as legal CBD products.
“We are currently reviewing the circumstances. If any illegal behavior is found, we will take the appropriate action,” said a Prague Police spokesperson.
