Prague Tourist Trains Return for 2026 Season with New RegioFox Units
Prague Morning
Tourist rail services linking Prague with destinations across Central Bohemia will resume on March 21, marking the start of the spring and summer travel season.
Czech Railways plans to run weekend and holiday connections through November 1, offering routes aimed at hikers, cyclists and families heading out of the city.
This year, the network will see the introduction of new RegioFox train units on selected lines, replacing older locomotive-hauled carriages. The modern trains will operate mainly on routes heading toward the Brdy highlands and the Bohemian Paradise area, two of the region’s most visited landscapes.
According to Czech Railways, the rollout of RegioFox units will also extend beyond tourist services. From March 20, the trains will begin appearing on regular weekday routes in the Posázaví region, including lines connecting Prague with Vrané nad Vltavou, Čerčany, Dobříš and Zruč nad Sázavou. The move is expected to improve comfort for both leisure travelers and daily commuters.
Weekend Routes to Key Destinations
Seasonal trains will again provide direct links from Prague to several popular areas outside the capital. Among them is the long-running Cyklohráček service, now entering its 13th year. Designed for families, the train includes play areas for children and space for bicycles. It will run twice daily between Prague and Slaný via Prague Semmering and Hostivice.

Another key route is the “Brdy” express, which will connect Prague with Beroun, Příbram and Blatná. For the first time, this service will be operated entirely by RegioFox units.
A separate line to the Bohemian Paradise region will run from Prague through Nymburk and Jičín, also using the new trains. Meanwhile, the Posázaví route will continue to operate with a mix of rolling stock, including diesel locomotives, though additional RegioFox units will be deployed on selected services.
Events and Special Trains Planned
Alongside regular services, Czech Railways and regional transport organizers will host a series of events tied to rail travel and public transport.
The program will begin in early April with a steam train running through the Sázava region as part of Easter celebrations. Later that month, events marking World Public Transport Day will coincide with the opening of the new Dvorecký Bridge in Prague, including special train rides and historic vehicle displays.
Toward the end of August, a historic train will run to Lešany for the annual Tank Day event. The season will close with late-November St. Nicholas rides, featuring steam trains and family programs around Prague.
