September 13: Filipino Community Hosts Open-Air Festival in Prague
Prague Morning
Music, street food, and family games from the Philippines are coming to Prague this September as the local Filipino community invites everyone to a full-day outdoor festival at Hostivař Reservoir.
The Filipínská Barrio Fiesta 2025, taking place on Saturday, September 13, from 10:00 to 20:00, promises a full day of live performances, traditional food, games, and workshops.
Entry is free and open to all.
The event is organized by the Filipínská Fiesta National Organizing Committee (NOC), z.s., in partnership with the Philippine Embassy in the Czech Republic, and with the help of local volunteers, performers, and small businesses.
What to Expect
Attendees can look forward to an event filled with cultural performances, family activities, and authentic Filipino cuisine.
The stage will be busy all day, with acts including the SSVP Choir, Zumba dancers, solo and duo performers like Martina Louisse Domingo, Rey Freedom, Nick Duero, and Shannenn Kate Concepcion, and traditional dances representing regions across the Philippines.

A colorful parade and flashmob dance will set the festive mood, while evening performances by Teleplan Band and BIG KISS BAND will close the event on a high-energy note.
Local cooks and community chefs will serve up beloved dishes like lechon, adobo, pancit, and sweet treats such as kakanin and halo-halo. Each bite is a reminder of home for the Filipino community, and an introduction to one of Southeast Asia’s richest culinary traditions for everyone else.
The event will also feature interactive cultural booths, where visitors can try their hand at Baybayin calligraphy, parol-making (Filipino lanterns), traditional dress-up, and more.

Children and adults alike can enjoy karaoke, face painting, tinikling (bamboo dancing), and open mic sessions.
Classic Filipino childhood games—sack races, tumbang preso, pabitin, and Chinese garter—will bring generations together through play and friendly competition.
Support Services and Community Stalls
The fiesta will also serve a practical purpose. A dedicated Government & Migrant Services Corner will offer support to Filipinos living in the Czech Republic. Booths from the Philippine Embassy and various labor and migrant offices will provide advice on legal rights, documentation, and reintegration programs.
Meanwhile, a community market will showcase Filipino-owned businesses and services, from food and fashion to real estate and health products. The aim is to highlight local entrepreneurship and encourage intercultural exchange.
