From Svíčková to Folk Dances Šohajka Shows Czech Tradition
Prague Morning
At Šohajka, located at Vodičkova 20, just three minutes from Wenceslas Square, Czech tradition comes alive.
This restaurant and on-site brewery combines authentic Czech and Moravian cuisine with live folklore music and dance, offering diners more than just a meal — it’s an immersive cultural experience.
Šohajka opened its doors in 2023 after extensive renovations and evolved from the Bohemia Goose concept into its current folkloric identity in late 2025.
The interior preserves Art Nouveau details while incorporating simple, modern touches, creating a space that is warm, inviting, and unmistakably Czech.
From Wednesday to Saturday, the inn hosts live music and folklore dancers, setting the right atmosphere for an evening out.
The program is free of charge, a gesture of thanks to those who come to enjoy dinner and the performances. Music, dance, and tradition are an integral part of every visit, giving diners a sense of the communal spirit of Czech villages.

The menu showcases the best of regional cuisine, from Moravian svíčková (marinated beef loin) and Bohemian duck with sauerkraut dumplings to South Bohemian carp soup. Traditional sides like potato pancakes, fermented cabbage, and herb breads accompany the mains.
Guests can choose from the à la carte menu or the signature “All You Can Eat” folklore menu, which offers ten smaller portions of classic dishes — plenty even for hearty appetites. Seasonal ingredients and Czech-sourced produce ensure every dish reflects local flavors.
Beer and wine are equally central to the Šohajka experience. The on-site brewery, still operating under the Bohemia Goose brand, produces five house beers from Žatec hops, available individually or as a tasting board.
For wine lovers, the adjacent vinotéka offers a selection of Czech and Moravian wines to complement the meal.
