ShowPark Reopens Near I. P. Pavlova, Now Operates as a "Hotel"

Prague Morning

A business long associated with Prague’s Holešovice Market has reopened in the city center.

ShowPark, one of the country’s best-known erotic venues, has begun operating near I. P. Pavlova, one of Prague’s busiest transport hubs. Officially, it now functions as a hotel.

The move ends nearly three decades in the Holešovice Market complex, where ShowPark operated for 28 years.

According to the company, close to four million visitors passed through the venue during that period. The relocation follows years of legal disputes with the City of Prague over the use of municipal property.

The new site is a six-story historic building on Legerova Street, directly opposite the central control center of the Prague Public Transit Company. It stands roughly 100 meters from the General University Hospital and about 600 meters from Prague 2 City Hall.

Until the Covid-19 pandemic, a ShowPark branch had already operated in the building.

ShowPark’s operator, Eroc, says the departure from Holešovice was unavoidable. According to executive director Zbyněk Matela, the lease expired exactly as originally agreed, and the company accepted the decision of the property owner. He said the core issue was a long-running dispute over whether an erotic business belonged in a municipally owned market hall.

The Holešovice site was managed by Výstaviště Praha, a city-owned company. Prague councilor for property Adam Zábranský previously described ShowPark as an obstacle to the redevelopment of the area. City officials have been working for years to revive the market complex after a long period of neglect.

Although a court ordered the eviction of Hall 18 as early as 2019, Eroc remained on the premises through repeated legal actions. According to Prague City Hall, the situation only changed after a court bailiff announced that forced eviction would proceed without delay on January 27, 2026.

Matela says the new address offers better accessibility and visibility. He insists the operation will be discreet. On its opening day, only a small purple sign marked the building. The company says it does not plan aggressive advertising or street-level promotion.

ShowPark presents the operation as a standard hotel. Rooms are rented to performers, and activities inside are not monitored by the operator, Matela said. The new location has around forty rooms, compared with nearly sixty in Holešovice.
