Prague councilors presented a study of a new promenade for pedestrians, runners, skaters, and cyclists. It will be a four-kilometer-long connection between Vršovice and Strašnice in the route of the canceled railway corridor of the railway line.
“We will get new barrier-free areas for meetings, social and cultural activities, regardless of age and ability to move. The promenade will connect to the existing surrounding network of streets. It will offer Prague citizens plenty of space for walking, cycling, or off-road skating,” said Deputy Mayor Adam Scheinherr.
The reconstruction of the historic bridge and three new footbridges will be part of the transformation of the whole area.
“The plan is to obtain a building permit in 2022, to compete with the contractor, and to start construction,” added Scheinherr.
In the first phase, will take place the construction of a four-kilometer section between U Seřadiště and Dolínecká streets, and gradually the promenade will arrive near the Vršovice railway station. According to Scheinherr, the project will cost 200 to 300 million CZK.
