Temporary Library Opens Under Prague's Negrelli Viaduct
Prague Morning

A newly renovated arch under the Negrelli Viaduct in Prague’s Karlín district has found a unique purpose this summer: a temporary library branch specializing in comics, fantasy, sci-fi, and board games.
As part of a pilot program, the arch will operate as a branch of the Municipal Library of Prague for two years. This phase will test both its economic viability and public usage before similar renovations begin on other arches along the viaduct.
Open Tuesdays through Thursdays until August 28, the library welcomes visitors from 3 to 6 p.m.
You can borrow books, comics, and board games, or engage in hands-on activities such as making badges, magnets, or painting miniatures.
The library’s focus is on fantasy, sci-fi, comic book culture, RPGs (Role-Playing Games), and small craft projects.

The afternoons are divided thematically: Tuesdays host RPG sessions, Wednesdays feature creative workshops, and Thursdays are reserved for more complex board games. The games lineup extends beyond classics like Carcassonne and Dragon’s Lair to include lesser-known titles and thematic events.
In addition to gaming, the library plans to host events with genre authors. Among them is Vilma Kadlečková, writer of the popular Mycelium series, who will participate in readings and discussions. Visitors can also expect workshops and shared creative writing sessions.
Library users do not need a membership card to participate in activities, but borrowing materials requires registration.
