Signal Festival Takes Over the Castle District
This year, the Castle District will host an exciting array of installations. Among the highlights, youโll find Filip Hodasโ video mapping of the Archbishopโs Palace, Jiลรญ Pลรญhodaโs monumental sculptures at ล ternberk Palace (in collaboration with the National Gallery of Prague), and a kinetic art project by the London-based studio United Visual Artists at Kunsthalle Prague. Letโs dive into whatโs in store!
Filip Hodas โ Eternal Recurrence
The video mapping Eternal Recurrence will breathe new life into the centuries-old Archbishopโs Palace in the Prague Castle District. Using layered projections, Hodas will explore the architectural intricacies of this magnificent Baroque palace, which dates back to the 16th century. His digital narrative will trace the origins and evolution of life forms, creating an immersive visual saga.
Hodas, a renowned Czech artist with over half a million Instagram followers, is famous for his 2018 series Pop Culture Dystopia, which earned him international acclaim.

Jiลรญ Pลรญhoda โ Capriccio, Karbola, UAPs
At the ล ternberk Palace, Jiลรญ Pลรญhoda will present three monumental sculptures that showcase the themes he has long explored in his work. These installations are grounded in Cartesian geometry, classical architectural proportions, and the laws of physical balance. Through contrasts of light and shadow, solid frameworks and transparent structures, the sculptures evoke a sense of dynamic movement, despite their static nature.
Pลรญhoda, one of the Czech Republicโs most prominent contemporary artists, creates monumental works that blur the boundaries between architecture and sculpture. He currently splits his time between Prague and New Mexico.

The second route of the 12th Signal Festival takes visitors through the heart of Prague, a beloved part of the festivalโs programming. This route features video mapping, captivating installations, and even live musical performances.
Desilence โ The Rhythm of the Ocean
One of the two video mappings on this route, The Rhythm of the Ocean, has been created by the Spanish-Danish studio Desilence for Pragueโs Municipal Library at Mariรกnskรฉ nรกmฤstรญ. This visually stunning projection offers a dynamic mural that mirrors the rhythms and processes of the deep ocean. Desilence invites the audience to venture beyond the familiar and into the dark, flowing currents of the underwater world.
Accompanied by the haunting sounds of an analogue synthesizer by American musician Suzanne Ciani, this immersive experience promises to mesmerize. Nearby, youโll also find the partner installation MERCEDES-BENZ: AURA, conceptualized by Vรกclav Mlynรกล and his team at Monument Office studio, in collaboration with Signal Creative, one of the countryโs largest studios specializing in new media art.

Cao Yuxi โ Dimensional Sampling
Cao Yuxiโs installation Dimensional Sampling draws parallels between the digital ageโs idol worship and societyโs reverence for technology. At its core is the QR codeโa symbol of the digital realm, connecting users to vast information networks. The artworkโs unfolding geometry and cube-shaped monolith serve as metaphors for the interface between physical and digital worlds. This audiovisual installation in Old Town Square was developed in partnership with Hong Kong artist Lawrence Lau, offering a thought-provoking reflection on our modern digital lives.
