Housing in Prague Remains Unaffordable

Housing in the Czech Republic remains among the least affordable in Europe. In Prague, the average price per square meter of existing housing reaches nearly 136,000 CZK, while the average salary is about 64,980 CZK—enough to buy only 0.47 square meters. By comparison, in the South Moravian Region, the average salary of around 51,900 CZK buys approximately 0.56 square meters.

Foreign Population Hits 1 Million
Approximately 1 million foreigners currently live in the Czech Republic. Ukrainians form the largest group, numbering over 570,000, followed by Slovaks (around 120,000), Vietnamese (about 65,000), and Russians (approximately 40,000).

Four-Day Holiday for Czechs in Early April
At the beginning of April, residents will enjoy four consecutive holidays, from April 3 to 6. Large stores will close only on Easter Monday, April 6, while remaining open on the other days.

Netflix Raises Prices in Czech Republic
Netflix has increased subscription prices in the Czech Republic. The Basic package now costs 259 CZK per month (up from 239 CZK), the Standard plan is 339 CZK (previously 309 CZK), and the Premium plan is 419 CZK (up from 379 CZK). The new prices are already in effect for new customers, while existing users have been notified of the upcoming changes.

Mobile Internet Users Reach 7.2 Million
Over the past decade, mobile internet users in the Czech Republic have grown by four million, reaching 7.2 million. Almost all younger and middle-aged people actively use the internet via smartphones, while usage among the elderly remains lower. Around 85% of residents use online banking, and online shopping has become routine for three-quarters of Czechs.

Social Workers Struggle with Low Pay
About 45% of social workers considered quitting in the past year due to low salaries, and over half are forced to take on additional work. Many specialists in the field currently earn less than 30,000 CZK gross, while the sector faces a labor shortage and difficulties in recruiting new employees.
