Egg Prices Set to Rise as Bird Flu and Farm Changes Hit Supply
Egg prices in the Czech Republic are expected to continue rising. Producers say several factors are driving the increase, including bird flu outbreaks that have forced the culling of tens of thousands of chickens and major farm restructuring ahead of the 2027 ban on caged hens. These changes require multimillion-crown investments and are reducing production. According to recent data, the average price of a dozen eggs reached about 78 CZK last month—14 CZK more than a year ago.
Fuel Prices Climb as Oil Markets React to Middle East Tensions
Fuel prices in the Czech Republic are rising again. Diesel has reached an average of 38 CZK per liter, while Natural 95 gasoline is approaching 36 CZK. In Prague, prices at some gas stations have already climbed to 40–42 CZK per liter. Analysts link the increase to tensions in the Middle East and rising oil prices on global markets.
Nearly Half of Czech Couples Keep Separate Bank Accounts
Almost half of couples in the Czech Republic manage their finances separately, according to a survey by the investment platform XTB. The study found that 45% of couples maintain separate accounts, while 34% use a mixed model, combining a joint account with personal ones. Around one in five households relies only on a shared account.
Petr Pavel Still Trusted by Majority of Czechs Three Years Into Presidency
Three years after taking office, Czech President Petr Pavel continues to enjoy the trust of a majority of citizens. A new survey by the research institute STEM shows that about 57% of Czechs trust the president, slightly higher than last year. Pavel’s support is strongest among younger people and university graduates. At the same time, nearly half of respondents say he is too involved in domestic politics.
Poll: ANO Dominates Czech Election Model With 34.5% Support
If parliamentary elections were held today, the opposition movement ANO would win clearly with 34.5% of the vote, according to an electoral model by Kantar CZ for Czech Television. The Mayors and Independents (STAN) would place second with 15.5%, ahead of the Civic Democratic Party (ODS) at 14.5%. The Czech Pirate Party would receive about 9%, followed by Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD) with 6.5%. The Motorists Sobě party remains just below the 5% threshold needed to enter parliament.
