Wizz Air Launches Direct Flights from Prague to Skopje This December
Prague Morning
Starting December 15, Wizz Air will open a brand-new direct route between Prague and Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia.
It’s the first time travelers from Czechia will have such easy access to this lesser-known Balkan gem without a layover.
Flights will operate three times a week during the winter season — specifically on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
From summer, the schedule will shift to Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Tickets are already available on the airline’s website, and the initial prices seem budget-friendly.
What to visit
Skopje is Balkan and Mediterranean at once, with a fascinating past, complicated identity, and some excellent food.
The top attraction is the glorious and ancient Lake Ohrid and its historic namesake town, rich with flora and fauna, swimming, classical remains and Byzantine history. Ohrid’s plentiful offerings are followed closely by dramatic mountains with fantastic walking trails, lakes and riding opportunities.
The city has an Ottoman quarter full of historic mosques, churches and museums, and some wonderful kayaking just outside of town, in the nearby Canyon Matka.
Visitors can explore also the maze-like lanes of the Old Bazaar (Čaršija) — one of the oldest and largest marketplaces in the Balkans — or take the cable car up Mount Vodno for panoramic views stretching across the valley.
The Millennium Cross atop the mountain stands as one of the tallest crosses in the world, and the surrounding nature is a dream for hikers and mountain bikers.
Beyond the city, Matka Canyon offers turquoise waters, hidden caves, and a quiet escape for anyone looking to connect with nature just a short drive from the urban center.
