England, France, and Spain are the countries with the largest number of pizzerias present on our special continental classification of 50 Top Pizza.
Online guide to Italian restaurants, 50 Top Pizza, has unveiled its annual ranking of the best pizzerias outside of Italy. It includes only European establishments.
The results are based on a survey following an anonymous judging visit and were announced online from Milan at a virtual event due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Pizza Nuova in Prague, part of Ambiente group, ranks 40th.
“Not only the oven but also the classic Neapolitan style of the pizzas is certified by the establishment’s membership to the Associazione Verace Pizza Napolitana. The pizza is the focal point around which a varied gastronomic offer rotates, from the pasta to the salads, to the ice-creams. All of them are icons of Italian cuisine,” says 50 Top Pizza.
The list is based on a survey that was carried out after an anonymous judging visit.
50 Kalo, a pizzeria by Ciro Salvo in London has remained at the top of the 50 Top Pizza Europe.
Enopizzeria Via Toledo by Francesco Calo in Vienna placed second (a new entry), while Bijou in Paris by Gennaro Nasti placed third. Baest in Copenhagen and La Pizza e Bella in Brussels were listed fourth and fifth.
Bijou in Paris also won the Pizza of the Year for its pizza with tuna and onions.
For the second year running, London remains the capital of Europe with six pizzerias in the top 50 including the winner followed by Paris with 5 pizzerias on the list.
Belgium has three pizzerias in the list. These include La Pizza e Bella which placed 5th, La Piola which placed 30th and was also awarded the best takeaway service of 2020, and De Superette, a concept created by Belgian chef Kobe Desramaults in the city of Gent.
Earlier in the week, 50 Top Pizza also awarded the best 10 artisanal pizza chains in Europe. These are Berbère, Big Mamma, Da Michele, Da Zero, Fra Diavolo, Grosso Napoletano, Luigia, Pizza Pilgrims, Sapere, Sorbillo.
