“There will be an increase of six to eight thousand confirmed Covid cases per day, unless we take further action. It is appropriate to consider a state of emergency,” said Roman Prymula, government’s commissioner for research in health sciences during an interview for iDNES.cz
According to the Minister of the Interior, Jan Hamáček, the declaration of a state of emergency is not appropriate in the near future.
“I’m not saying it’s a disaster, but it’s a state of emergency that needs to be significantly slowed down,” he said. He believes the government should introduce stricter nationwide measures.

“The current one shows that we are still around 1.6, which is still not the worst-case scenario,” said Hamáček.
“The state of emergency it’s not on the discussion table in the next few days. The predictions are complicated, but the health care system can handle up to 120,000 hospitalized people, which is more in the predictions in October,” added Hamáček.
