Metronome Festival Postponed to 2022. However, Prague Will Not be Without Music

This year’s biggest open-air music event Metronome Prague Festival is postponed to 2022. This decision has been reached after a thorough and careful evaluation of the current circumstances related to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Although the situation is slowly improving, the lack of time until the originally planned June deadline makes it impossible to finalize work on such a large project. We believe the next Metronome Prague Festival will take place in all its glory June 23 – 26 next year. All the purchased tickets will remain valid,” said the organizers.

A lot of large and important world events have officially been cancelled, and other events await this unpopular decision. There are several reasons for that, and they cross geographical boundaries and it is not certain how large the gathering capacities will be in each country or the hygienic requirements.

“Under these circumstances, it would be irresponsible to consider holding the festival, which in five years of its existence has managed to gain a great reputation among music fans and artists. Just three months before the originally planned “start shot” it is not possible to compile a program due to these reasons.”

The organizers of the Metronome festival commit to doing their best to make up for the long wait by providing the highest quality music program for 2022, and by preparing a surprise for all the current ticket holders and festival supporters which will be published in April. 

Moreover, they are already working on a compensatory event similar to the series of concerts that took place last September at the usual location of the Prague Metronome Festival at the Prague Exhibition Grounds (Výstaviště).

About The Metronome Prague Festival:

The Metronome Prague Festival is the first major music and art festival held in Prague. Its 5th year was originally planned for 2020, however, due to the Covid-19 pandemic it was moved to 2021, and for the same reason is now being moved to 2022.

The ambition of the festival is to appeal to all age and genre audiences. It relies on current events in progressive music but does not neglect the still-living classics of various genres.

The festival organisers do not skip domestic performers who often offer a unique program, such as the return of Sexy Dancers and the band J.A.R. in collaboration with gospel choir Maranatha or Ivan Král with Jiří Suchý who performed in recent years.

Metronome Prague has hosted big stars such as Kraftwerk, Primal Scream, Liam Gallagher, Morcheeba, Sting, Iggy Pop, Foals, Chemical Brothers, Kasabian, Tom Odell, Ella Eyre, David Byrne, John Cale and Massive Attack.

There were Ohm Square, Floex, Ille, Tata Bojs, David Koller with Katarzia among performers from the domestic music scene. Almost 20,000 music fans visited the last year’s festival.
