Unemployment in the Czech Republic fell to 3.5 percent in September from 3.6 percent in August. The Central Labor Office registered 262,142 job seekers, approximately 5,700 fewer than in the previous month and almost 14,900 less than in September of last year. There are currently 357,911 job vacancies.

The Czech Defence Ministry concluded on Tuesday the contract on the purchase of four batteries of the SPYDER air defence system from Israel that the Rafael Israeli firm would supply for 13.7 billion crowns on the basis of an intergovernmental agreement. The SHORAD (Short Range Air Defence) system is designed to protect cities, nuclear power plants, airports, industry centres and other important premises.

UEFA have opened disciplinary proceedings into “potential discriminatory incidents” during Rangers’ 1-0 Europa League defeat at Sparta Prague last week, European soccer’s governing body said.

Spain’s coalition government agreed on Tuesday on a draft law to control rents through a mix of coercive measures and tax incentives. The new bill would include tax incentives for small landlords who cut the rents they charge and would boost property taxes on houses left empty by their landlords, the minister told reporters after the weekly cabinet meeting.
