Find this small boho paradise on the island in the middle of Prague. From June to September, you can enjoy live music, various outdoor activities, and great coffee and food. You can relax under the shades of the trees and quietly observe the life on the Vltava river with a view to Charles Bridge and National Theatre. It’s a real paradise that will take you far away from your everyday reality.
This oasis of peace is a great project of one couple, Baronka and David. In previous years, they run a successful Camp Žižkov and popular Coffee Corner. However, they had to close the business in 2016. So, they bought a retro van from 1969 and reconstructed it for mobile café in a bohemian style. Name CoCo Van refers to their previous COffee COrner. They traveled with Cocovan to various festivals, and they became so popular with their boho concept, so they received an offer from Malostranská beseda who is responsible for this area, to run a program for a whole island in the same vibes.
In summer 2018, Cocovan finally parked to Střelecký Ostrov. Baronka with David created a permanent boho paradise for all visitors searching for a peaceful oasis. In Cocovan, you can have a great quality of coffee, homemade lemonades, ice-creams, and sweet delights. Furthermore, all the cups and plates are from recycled materials.
I must say, that Baronka and David created such an oasis in a similar style in café called Cocovanka nearby. You can expect a separate article soon.
Pon-Tón
Pontoon is a boho boat, just close by the Cocovan. The boat is already anchored by the island for several years, but believe me, it was not the best quality. During the spring this year, Baronka with David started its reconstruction in the same boho vibes as Cocovan and voilá, there is an extra oasis for relaxing. Most importantly, Pon-Tón brings an extra stage, so you can enjoy the live music of small bands, that are going to be famous soon! If you don’t find a place at the boat, you can still enjoy the music from anywhere from the island, or you can have a good view from the bridge (most Legií). Everything for free.
Střelecký Ostrov
In translation, Střelecký Ostrov means Shooting island. During the reign of Charles IV. (the same emperor responsible for nearby Charles Bridge), the Prague shooters and archers had a privilege to train at this island. This tradition was renewed several times during our history. In the 21st century, the island was damaged by two floods, in 2002 and 2013. These unfortunate events contributed to the reconstruction of the whole island so that you can enjoy its summer vibes today.
