* POLITICS:
President Petr Pavel will receive German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at Prague Castle on Monday at the start of his two-day visit to Czechia. President Steinmeier’s talks in Prague are expected to focus on the upcoming European elections, support for Ukraine, global security and energy issues, business and trade and cross-border cooperation.
* AGRICOLTURE/strong>:
The night frosts that hit the country in the wake of a heatwave have damaged forests in addition to fruit trees and vines. Newly budding young beeches, oaks and firs have been burnt in many places. The frosts will also result in a poor seed year, which will hamper natural regeneration.
* WEATHER:
Monday should be clear to partly cloudy and dry with day temperatures between 20 and 24 degrees Celsius.
* PUBLIC TRANSPORT:
Due to the reconstruction of the tram line in Dlážděná and Havlíčkova streets and the disrepair of a part of the Libeň Bridge, tram operation will be temporarily interrupted from Monday 29 April 2024 (approximately from 00.00 a.m.) until Saturday 29 June 2024 (approximately until 4.30 a.m.).
* REAL ESTATE:
Apartment prices are rebounding, with Karlovy Vary and Ostrava seeing over nine percent increases year-on-year in Q1. While Prague remains stable, cities like Brno and Pardubice have recorded rises. Yet, prices still lag behind mid-2022 peaks.
