A Month-by-Month Guide to Music Festivals in Czechia This Summer

With genres reaching high and low from techno, rock, pop, and everything in between, nothing goes unmissed in the Czech Republic.

Let It Roll

  • When: Thursday 1st – Saturday 3rd August 2024
  • Where: Airfield Milovice in Milovice

Going in hard with the list of the best music festivals in the Czech Republic in 2024 is a massive honourable mention; Let It Roll. Known to be the world-leading DnB festival, Let It Roll is the perfect festival to scratch that raving itch you’ve been having. Every year they welcome 20, 000 + imortalz to their layer (a former military airport to you and us), which transforms into a ravers paradise with the wonders of their impressive stage designs.

Even better, this year you can expect some titans across the DnB spectrum as they are not only a rocket of a lineup but also, esteemed ambassadors that care about the heavy sounds of DnB just as much as you. Expect deep, minimal, liquid, and more unmissable sounds and undeniable fun.

There is also free water available, two food zones, bars, and punters can bring some of their own alcohol. Any drum and bass fan should have this one on their raving bucket list!

Metronome Prague Festival

  • When: Thursday 20th – Saturday 22nd June 2024
  • Where: Prague Exhibition Grounds in Prague

Sometimes all we need is a bit of music and art to keep the vibes going, and Metronome is the perfect place to do that. This Prague music festival is the perfect combination of art and music to make a weekend-long show of captivating performances.

Expect to see some standout performances, especially from Bitt Award winner Raye, British grime artist Ghetts, Tom Grennon, Marc Ribblet, and loads more. This music and arts event is one of Prague’s best music festivals, welcoming various genres including hip-hop, pop, indie, electronic and more.

Metalfest

  • When: Friday 31st May – Sunday 2nd June 2024
  • Where: Lochotín Amphitheater in Pilsen

2024 lineup: DEATH PUNCH, Dimmu Borgir, Eluveicie, Avatarium, Visions of Atlantis, Iron Allies and many more

Bust out your horns and get ready to crowd surf and mosh until you ache all over because Metalfest is a huge metal festival – who’d’ve guessed? Boasting many genres of metal in a natural environment, the fest holds having fun at its core. Metalfest was originally founded in Austria before spreading across Europe and boasts some of the biggest names in metal alongside local artists.

Bohemia Jazz Fest

  • When: Tuesday 9th – Tuesday 16th July 2024
  • Where: Moving through multiple Czech cities – Prague, Pilsen, Hluboka nad Vltaovou, Prachatice, Domazlice, and Brno

2024 lineup: Iva Bittova, Milan Svoboda Quartet, Osa, Viktoria Tolstoy Quintet and loads more

Before we get into the many great things about Bohemia Jazz Fest, know it’s free to attend! No tickets are required, you can just rock up as you like. The fest stops by in the cities listed above for a day or two before moving to the next. The talent this year ranges from Czechian, Polish, Spanish, Ukrainian, United States, and Italian, ensuring attendees get a taste of the best in jazz from a variety of countries.

Mighty Sounds Festival

  • When: Friday 28th – Sunday 30th June 2024
  • Where: Airport Tabor in Tabor

2024 lineup: Bad Religion, The Hives, Dubioza Kolektiv, The Rumjacks, Jaya The Cat, The Locos, The Hotknives and many more

Focusing mainly on punk, rock, hardcore, reggae, ska, and similar genres, over 80% of the bands on the lineup are from outside the Czech Republic, with the rest made up of top local bands. The fest prides itself on ensuring its lineup is different to other music festivals in the Czech Republic.

It also has the Theatre Tent for performances and film screenings, the Black Coffee Stage for acoustic performances, three DJ stages, five live stages, sports tournaments and graffiti.

Brutal Assault

The 27th edition of the Brutal Assault Festival will take place at Josefov. The event will take place from 7 till 10 August 2024.

The festival started in 1996, and originally focused on grindcore. For many years, it was a small event with mainly Czech and Slovak bands performing. Currently, Brutal Assault features artists that perform all forms of extreme metal, including some of the genre’s most prominent figures, as well as artists with dark and intense styles from genres outside of heavy metal such as punk rock, experimental rock and electronic.

Colours of Ostrava

  • When: Wednesday 7th – Sunday 10th August 2024
  • Where: Dolní Vítkovice in Ostrava

2024 lineup: Lenny Kravitz, Queens of the Stone Age, Sam Smith, James Blake, Sean Pual, Zara Larsson, Khruangbin, and loads more

Spread across a massive nineteen stages, Colours of Ostrava is the biggest festival in the Czech Republic in 2024. The fest packs in over 350 thrills in its programme including music, theatre, film, talks, art activities, and workshops. As such a huge festival, so many genres are covered in its lineups with rock, indie, pop, electronic, blues, reggae, soul, hip-hop, funk, world music, punk, folk, and so much more represented.

Beats For Love

  • When: Wednesday 3rd – Saturday 6th July 2024
  • Where: Industrial National Monument in Ostrava

2024 lineup: David Guetta, Alok, Boris Brejcha, Lost Frequencies, Chase & Status (DJ set), Eric Prydz, Andy C, Becky Hill and many more!

Possibly the largest electronic festival in central Europe, Beats For Love has a fair few electronic genres showcased, such as house, trance, EDM, hard styles, drum and bass, techno, and more. This year they’re celebrating their 10th anniversary, and they’ve got a glistening lineup to make the most of these celebrations!

It was designed from the offset to be different and accessible, offering affordable tickets, 15 + stages, and over 400 artists on the bill at an industrial former oil refinery and coal mine site.

Rock For People

  • When: Wednesday 12th – Saturday 15th June 2024
  • Where: Hradec Králové Park 360 in in Hradec Králové

2024 lineup: The Prodigy, Bad Omens, 311, The Offspring, Parkway Drive, Bring Me To The Horizon, Yungblud, and many more

Full of the biggest and best live performers of the punk, rock, and metal variety, Rock For People dates back to 1995. The fest has grown to accommodate more than just heavier genres, with this year presenting The Prodigy, Yungblud, Avril Lavine and more; representing some of the other genres showcased at this year’s event.

Rock For People attracts over 30,000 music lovers for its four-day bash to appreciate over 200 artists. Alongside the world’s best live music, punters can enjoy film, theatre, workshops, and more.

Master of Puppets

  • When: Monday 1st – Sunday 7th July 2024
  • Where: Autocamp Na Kopci

2024 lineup: 31 Stitches, Aka Nina, Ay Jo, Elemental, Animated Zone, Aim, Crone and loads more!

Master Of Puppets or ‘MOP’, is a week-long alternative psychedelic festival held in the Czech countryside. The festival takes pride in its surroundings transforming the space into a landmine for underground electronic and experimental music culture.

Expect to find familiarity within this neck of the woods as they welcome you to embrace their 160 hours of music and art, accompanied by 3 elaborately decorated stages. Plus with some of the yummiest food selections to keep you fuelled for 7 days of non-stop dancing and connecting; what more could you ask for?
