Formula 1 in Prague: David Coulthard to Drive Red Bull Racing Car

Red Bull Racing has announced that legendary Scottish driver David Coulthard will pilot a Formula 1 car in Prague’s Karlín along Rohanské nábřeží.

On Saturday, August 17, the F1 car will be showcased in Prague, and the driver is just as noteworthy. Coulthard is returning to a city he knows well.

“I have many friends here and visit Prague more often than my native Scotland. It’s a beautiful city, with great sights, cuisine, and people. I believe we’ll put on a memorable show,” says Coulthard, who last year launched a project in Prague to support women in motorsport.

The F1 car, an RB7, dates back to 2011 when Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber won twelve out of eighteen Grands Prix. Vettel became world champion, and Red Bull Racing clinched the Constructors’ Cup.

“The RB7 is a 750-horsepower car with a 2.4-litre V8 engine that can reach up to 18,000 rpm, weighs about 650 kilograms, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under three seconds,” explains Chris Gregory of the race team.

These V8 engines are known for being some of the most exciting in Formula 1 history, unlike the current turbocharged cars.

Coulthard, now 53, competed in Formula 1 from 1994 to 2008 for Williams, McLaren, and Red Bull, winning thirteen Grands Prix and finishing second overall in 2001.

The event will also feature drifting by the German Red Bull Driftbrothers and stunts by Lithuanian freestyle stuntman Aras Gibiezi.
