August 13-31: Prague to Host Festival of New Circus Letní Letná

Prague Morning

The international festival of new circus and theatre, Letní Letná 2025, will take place in Prague on August 13-31.

The festival will feature over 200 performances, workshops, concerts, and various acts by circus artists from 14 countries, including a special program for children.

This year marks the 22th edition of the festival. Letenské sady park will once again be the main venue, with tents set up to create a mini-town complete with a coffee shop and an evening bar.

Many performances will be free of charge. Additionally, the festival will offer a rich and varied daily program: children’s shows, circus, juggling and acrobat workshops, music concerts, exhibitions, lectures, creative workshops, and more.

This year’s opening night will be headlined by the Blackout Paradox ensemble, known for their high-energy performances blending fire, light, dance, and acrobatics.

Their latest show, Creation, draws inspiration from ancient Greek mythology—specifically the origin of the world seen through the eyes of Charon, the mythical ferryman of the dead. Expect giant illuminated puppets, choreographed fire sequences, and a striking atmosphere in Prague’s Letná Gardens.

International Highlights: New Premieres and Daring Shows

Among the most anticipated acts is Akoreacro, who will present the Czech premiere—and global encore—of their new show Ostinato. The ensemble’s signature blend of live music and acrobatics promises to make it one of the festival’s standout performances.

French duo Bêtes de foire bring a poetic revival of old-world circus with Décrochez-moi-ça, while Max & Maurice return with Les Grands Fourneaux #2, combining a multi-sensory acrobatic show with an unusual dinner experience.

From Canada, the acclaimed troupe The 7 Fingers will present Duel Reality, a fierce and elegant battle of love and strength. Their compatriots from People Watching will offer Play Dead, a surreal show blurring the boundaries between dreams and reality.

The Czech new circus scene will be well-represented by Cirk La Putyka, who officially open the festival on August 13 with Hey, Earth!, a performance blending visual art, movement theater, and new circus traditions.
