Brno-based RegioJet has switched its Prague-Croatia train service to daily operation.

The train route runs through Brno and Bratislava to the Croatian cities of Ogulin, Split, and Rijeka. There you can transfer to buses to other resorts in the country.

Comfortable and affordable – a berth in a sleeping car the whole distance of more than 1,000km is only CZK 590 for a seat and from CZK 790 for a seat in a sleeping car.– the RegioJet route will run until the end of September. The service will be daily in the high season, in July and August.

It stops en route in Bratislava but not in Budapest. The train in signature yellow colours will pull out of Prague just after 4.30 pm, arriving in Zagreb just after 5 am then, dividing in Ogulin, will go on to Rijeka at 10.15 am and Split at 1.45 pm.

In terms of capacity, the head of Regiojet’s international projects said that the capacity this year is more than 600 passengers per train, meaning that it is, once again, 15 wagons. Wagons with seating as well as sleeping cars will also be available.

“Perhaps the only change is that we’ve increased the number of so-called ”quiet wagons” that are suitable for families with small children or the elderly. The trains will once again offer familiar comfort at very popular prices and tickets for the Prague Regiojet train have been on sale since March the 8th this year.

Last year, most passengers traveled from the Czech Republic, while 10 percent of tickets were sold in Slovakia.

It’s not always easy to find new things to do in Prague. Hiding in plain sight, though, just a few steps from the Charles Bridge on a charming little alleyway, is Ping Pong Point—the only establishment bringing casual table tennis to the masses in Prague.

It helps add to the casual, fun environment. Colorful lights, a high-quality sound system, numerous comfortable places to sit and state-of-the-art soundproofing all help to create a welcoming, easygoing, conversational vibe for friends and strangers alike.

Coming into the business with a wealth of experience in the hospitality and restaurant industry, Petr is not in it for profit.

He’s “not trying to earn millions.” Instead, he’s creating a space for members of the community—specifically, Mala Strana locals—to have fun and enjoy a great game. Moreover, it’s “nice to remember my childhood,” he said, recalling how important the game had been for him and his friends growing up in a small Czech village.

He’s hoping to revive the ping pong world in Czechia—after all, Czechs were formerly dominant on the world table tennis stage—one table at a time. It’s a great sport—social, easy to get started, and cheap. Hopefully, it takes off in Prague.

Ping Pong Point is in Mala Strana, and the space can be rented for 500 crowns/hour, making it affordable not just for tourists. Parties and other events can also be held in the space.

Plans for a membership deal are already in the works, given the amount of repeat customers already frequenting the space.

As France’s term of the rotating Presidency ends on 30 June, it is time for the second member of the trio to carry out the European agenda.

On 1 July begins the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union (the institution that unites ministers from the Member States, responsible for different policies). As the holder of the rotational EU Presidency, the Czech Republic will determine the priorities and the agenda of the Council, preside over its meetings, ensure compromise between members and represent the Union abroad for the next six months.

Also, one of the major tasks during this six-month-long term is the adoption of the EU budget for 2023.

Under the motto “Europe as a task: Rethink, Rebuild, Repower” and as the primary agenda-setter of the EU, for the next semester, Czechia will focus on the following priorities, that highly revolve around the war in Ukraine, the climate crisis and cyber threats:

Managing the refugee crisis and Ukraine’s post-war recovery – the Czech Republic regards the political and military support to Ukraine facing the Russian invasion as vital to protecting security in Europe. Hence, the country is in favour of using all EU instruments and programs to support Ukraine, including a further set of sanctions against the aggressor.

As regards Ukrainian refugees, the Czech Republic will cooperate with the Commission to ensure that the most affected Member States will receive the needed support and funds to manage the task. Children’s education, healthcare, and women’s participation in the labour market are amongst the top priorities under this Presidency.

The Presidency is also hopeful that the next six months will bring about the end of the war and the launch of post-war reconstruction of Ukraine. To make it more efficient, Czechia commits to leading the EU cooperation with Ukraine and the process of securing the finances needed for recovery from the free world;

Energy security – the Czech Republic will naturally focus on a Union that is independent of Russian gas, oil, and coal, decarbonization of industry, highlighting the role of nuclear energy. Reducing transport emissions, sustainability, and the development of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) are on the list when it comes to transport;

Strengthening Europe’s defense capabilities and cyberspace security – through a partnership with NATO, the Czech Republic wants to reinforce European security and defense. Alongside other things, Czechia will pay particular attention to the cybersecurity of EU institutions, bodies and agencies and to the EU space-based secure communication system;

Strategic resilience of the European economy – here, the EU should support technological competitiveness based on its own production capacities and deepen free trade with democratic nations. Accelerating the digitalization and automation of European industry and the further deepening of the internal market are in focus;

The resilience of democratic institutions – among other things, Czechia will get the chance to steer EU’s actions based on the results of the Conference of the Future of Europe. Wrapping up the second half of the European Year of Youth, Czechia aims at improving dialogue with young people and promoting their participation in political/policy processes. Under this priority, the Presidency targets risks related to cryptocurrencies, as well as promoting free media.

Police in Prague are looking for a man who has been breaking into people’s homes at night and watching them as they sleep, committing petty theft at times.

“Home security camera footage makes it clear the perpetrator does not mind the presence of people,” Prague police spokesperson Jan Rybanský said in a statement on Thursday.

“On the contrary, we could say he literally seeks out such homes,” he added.

Police have so far registered seven cases but said there could have been more.

“In one case, the suspect was sitting on the bed next to the nine-year-old daughter of the house owner in her child’s room while she was asleep and had no idea,” Rybanský said.

Some house owners also recorded the movement of the suspect around the house when they were awake.

“To avoid being disturbed, he locked himself in the room or on the entire floor, searched it and then left the house,” reads the statement on the police website.

The suspect aged between 55 and 60, who has a limp, has mostly broken into houses in Prague. He has burgled one house twice within a year.

Today, July 1st, the Czech Republic takes over the Presidency of the EU Council. The six-month Czech Presidency follows France, and will be followed by Sweden from 1 January till 30 June 2023.

The economic mood of the Czechs in the first half of 2022 is considerably pessimistic, according to a survey conducted by the STEM agency. The household financial outlook index fell in May, to its lowest value in eight years. The index also recorded the biggest year-on-year drop since 1993. The public expects continued rising prices, which are most threatening to those with high borrowing.

The Czech economy grew by 4.9 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2022, according to a revised estimate released by the Czech Statistics Office on Thursday. A previous estimate issued at the end of May put the expansion of GDP 4.8 percent.

The CzechRepublic had the lowest rate of unemployment in the European Union in May: 2.5%. The general level of unemployment in the EU stood at 6.1% in May, remaining at April’s level.

Based on the increase in the consumer price index, the government decided to raise the metrics for minimum subsistence and living standards by an extraordinary 8.8%, effective from 1 July, reflecting the actual increase in consumer prices.

There’s no such thing as a slow offseason in the NFL, and even in the lull between mini-camps and official training camp opening up the presses have stayed hot.

The latest news is that Alvin Kamara bracing for up to a six-game suspension for his role in an altercation outside of a club the night before the Pro Bowl, definitely hurting New Orleans’ future NFL Vegas odds.

There’s a chance Kamara’s suspension could be even longer than six games, which isn’t great news for the Saints coming off a 9-8 season and a missed playoff berth. New Orleans is also transitioning into the post-Sean Payton era, as the longtime coach decided to step down in the offseason.

The Incident

The police report doesn’t shine a great light on Kamara, who was arrested on the day of the Pro Bowl for battery resulting in substantial bodily harm. The victim stated to police that he was waiting for an elevator but Kamara refused the man entrance by holding him out by his chest. A pushing battle ensued and it soon escalated to punching and kicking.

Kamara and a group that included Chiefs CB Chris Lammons continued to assault the victim, with reports stating that Kamara punched the man eight times – including three when he was already on the ground. The victim suffered a broken orbital bone and the confrontation was confirmed by video surveillance.

The NFL’s personal conduct policy declares a six-game suspension minimum for felony battery. Some fans are miffed that Kamara could possibly get a longer penalty than Deshaun Watson who has 24 assault case civil suits pending against him.

Where do the Saints Go From Here?

Things were going to be tough this year for the Saints anyways as they move on from Payton, who had coached the team for the last 15 years. Former defensive coordinator Dennis Allen is the new head coach but he was 8-28 at the helm of Oakland from 2012-2014.

Kamara had a productive 2021 campaign, rushing for 898 yards and amassing another 439 through the air with 9 total TDs. Kamara has scored a total of 67 TDs in his five-year career so that’s a big gap to fill for Allen and the Saints staff.

Mark Ingram was reacquired by the Saints last season but had just 260 yards rushing in 14 games. Taysom Hill will get some carries in the backfield during Kamara’s absence, but expect the team to sign somebody once a suspension becomes official. Leonard Fournette could return to the Bayou where he played college football at LSU, but former Texans RB David Johnson didn’t get a contract after his recent visit with the team.

The real winners in the Kamara absence could be the Saints’ passing game. New Orleans has put together a pretty impressive trio of receivers with a hopefully healthy Michael Thomas, the signing of Jarvis Landry, and the drafting of Chris Olave out of Ohio State in the first round. Could this mean QB Jameis Winston is one of the biggest fantasy sleepers in 2022?

Numerous Ryanair passengers were left stranded at Prague’s airport after their flight to Manchester left without them last week.

Travelers for the 5.30 pm service on Friday 24 June claim to have arrived in good time, but said an unusual security system and huge queues at the airport meant they were still waiting in line by the time the plane was scheduled to depart.

Passenger Hannah Molloy described the scene as “absolute chaos”, alleging that a large number of travellers were left scrambling to book onto a later easyJet flight, while others had to find a last-minute hotel in Prague.

“There was no one from Ryanair,” she told Manchester Evening News. “We spoke to security and they said ‘it’s nothing to do with us’.

“We were told they were ‘going to miss the flight slot’ but obviously the gate staff knew that there were a lot of people around – they could see us out of the window.”

Ms. Molloy added that she and her partner “got there in plenty of time”. They were forced to pay £300 for an alternative easyJet flight in order to get home.

Passengers reported that, unlike the normal airport procedure, they had to wait for their gate to be announced before they could proceed to security.

Another traveller, Clive Dobbs, described the security arrangement as “strange”, saying that he and wife Liz went to the gate as soon as it was announced – only to be met by a “queue of hundreds, and maybe about three people [working on] security.”

They were still waiting in line by the plane’s scheduled takeoff time.

“Eventually a few people ahead of us get told they can’t get on. They then tell the rest of us we’re stuck here,” he said, adding that he was “absolutely furious”.

“We sat there starving, miserable, and frankly traumatized for hours. It’s totally put me and Liz off ever going abroad again,” said Mr. Dobbs.

His account is corroborated by Mia Munro, who was travelling with her mother.

She said the gate number was announced “really late”, and that, when it finally was, there was a “massive queue and it wasn’t moving for about 30 minutes”.

Despite making it through security, Ms. Munro said a man started telling passengers no one else was allowed to board the flight.

“They said it was a Ryanair decision and they had closed the gate,” she said. “We were all panicking, there was a big group of us.”

Ms. Munro claimed that passengers weren’t to blame for missing the flight: “I don’t see how so many people can make the same mistake. One lady we spoke to had arrived four hours early.”

Ryanair, however, has insisted the incident was “out of its control”.

“Ryanair passengers are advised via their email/Ryanair app to arrive at least three hours before their scheduled departure time. “We regret that these airport security delays at Prague, which are entirely out of our control, caused these passengers to miss their flight.”

Kryštof kempy – 2. 7. – 27. 8. 2022

Twice Kryštof had to postpone the fourth year of his camps, but this year, they are finally happening. With each one-day festival, the band
will explore films and music as they become real Hollywood stars. In addition to the organizers, other musicians will appear on the stage:
the bands Sebastian and Slza, Olga Lounová and Michal Horák are all slated to perform.

The camps will stop in a total of eight towns, and are sold out in Hukvaldy (July 9), Strážnice (July 16), Konopiště (August 6) and Loket nad Ohří (August 20). The last tickets remain for Náměště na Hané (July 2), Svojšice u Přelouče (July 23), Liberec (August 13) and Pilsen (August 27).

Jack White – 5. 7. 2022, Forum Karlín, Prague

Jack White is returning to the Karlín Forum after eight long years, this time as part of his The Supply Chain Issues Tour, where he will perform tracks off his new album Fear of the Dawn. As with his last visit, it will be strictly a “phone-free show”, which is a pleasant refreshment for everyone who no longer enjoys watching concerts through the displays of people in front of them.

Thievery Corporation – 7. 7. 2022, Žluté lázně, Prague

The electronic duo Rob Garza and Eric Hilton have been widely celebrated since last year following the release of their debut album Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi. Although it might seem that they have tried countless influences and musical directions during their careers, they say: “In those 25 years in music, we have left nothing unfinished. Of course, we have not yet been able to fit all our favorite influences into our work, so we are looking forward to everything that still awaits us. ”

Masters of Rock – 7. – 10. 7. 2022, R. Jelínek liqueur complex, Vizovice

If it weren’t for the pandemic, the Vizovice rock festival would be celebrating its 20th year this year. Nevertheless, or perhaps precisely because of that, we can look forward to an extremely busy program: Judas Priest, Nightwish, Lordi and Sepultura will visit the capital of the Wallachian Kingdom, and Arakain and Citron will not be missing from a healthy lineup of domestic stars.

Jeff Beck + Johnny Depp – 11. 7. 2022, O2 arena, Prague

After several successful concerts in England, Johnny Depp will continue joining Jeff Beck on the entire European tour. The announcement of this concert was a bit unexpected, as it took place only a month before the event itself.

In addition to a number of instrumental songs and songs in which Depp will sing, they will present songs from their upcoming joint album 18, which include the single “This Is a Song for Heddy Lamar.” Due to the huge interest, the concert was moved from the originally planned Karlín Forum to the larger premises of the O2 universe.

KISS – 13. 7. 2022, O2 arena, Prague

After an epic and storied forty-five-year career, KISS will extend its final tour, End Of The Road and stop in Prague. Their concert will take place on July 13 and fans can look forward to the biggest hits of the band’s discography.

Colors of Ostrava – 13. – 16. 7. 2022, Dolní Vítkovice, Ostrava

Organizers managed to keep all the big names that were planned for 2020, so we are looking forward to Twenty One Pilots, Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Martin Garrix, and LP. In total, Colors will offer musicians from 32 countries on 19 stages. There will also be a number of interesting speakers in the Meltingpot discussion forum.

Harry Styles– 15. 7. 2022, O2 Arena, Prague

Since the days of One Direction, Harry Styles has developed into a respected artist, record-breaking darling of fans and critics alike.
He has rapidly overtaken his former colleagues from the boyband. As part of the Love On Tour tour, he was originally supposed to present his second solo album Fine Line, but due to covid’s delays, he finally managed to release another album Harry´s House, from which the current hit As It Was comes, among others. No wonder the Prague concert has been hopelessly sold out for a long time.

Not everyone fits big festivals with tens of thousands of participants and foreign mega-stars. Those who prefer the Czech scene can, as usual, visit one of the Czech and Moravian castles and chateaux. In July you can go to Točník, Kunětická Hora or Švihov. This year we will have concerts by Wild Bill, Anna K, David Koller, Mig 21, Mirai, Pokáč, Tomáš Klus, Vypsaná Fixa and many others.

Mendel Festival – 17. – 24. 7. 2022, Brno

Celebrate 200 years since the birth of Gregor Johann Mendel, an abbot and genius scientist, the father of genetics. The Mendel Festival connecting science, faith and entertainment will take place on 17-24. July 2022 (not only) on Mendel Square in Brno. You can look forward to
an all-day program for the whole family – science, history, art, and culture. The headliner of the event will be the American funk legend Kool and the Gang. Lipo, Kateřina Marie Tichá, Thom Artway, Barbora Poláková and Ewa Farna will also perform.

Glorchestra Tour – July 21 – September 14, 2022

The Glorchestra project is an unconventional combination of musical genres that you don’t often hear together. Modern music like hip hop,
alternative electronics, songwriting, pop and dance music all await you, accompanied by a symphony orchestra. After the successful last
year, the Glorchestra returns and brings a unique musical experience. As part of the tour, they will stop in Slavkov u Brna, at the Prague
Exhibition Grounds or in Ostrava. Tata Bojs, rapper Vladimir 518 and the distinctive Slovak singer Katarzia will also perform with the orchestra.

Pearl Jam – July 22, 2022, O2 arena, Prague

Pearl Jam, originally from the American city of Seattle, celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2020. In addition, they released their eleventh studio album Gigaton. Considered one of the most popular rock bands of the 1990s, their name is closely associated with the grunge movement. They have countless hits on their account.

Slipknot – 28. 7. 2022, O2 arena, Prague

After a year’s delay, a masked gang from Iowa finally arrives in Prague. They return to us quite regularly: the last time they visited the O2 Arena was in 2019. The band had to cope with both personnel changes (longtime percussionist Chris Fehn left it in 2019) and, above all, a big loss
when former drummer and one of the founding members Joey Jordison died last year after a long illness. Nevertheless, they forge on and we can
only hope that this time the concert will not be marked by a bad sound, which has been a frequent target of criticism in previous Czech performances.

Pop Messe – 29. – 30. 7. 2022, Brno

The last of the July festivals is also the youngest. The Brno festival Pop Messe is preparing for its second year after a successful debut.

More performers on more stages, a larger complex, and a wider accompanying program are all promised this time around. As the name
suggests, the dramaturgy focuses on pop in all its forms: “The Pop Messe program aims primarily (but not only) at young multi-genre music that goes beyond the commonly used term POP.” Among the performers are, for example, the London grime legend Skepta, Son Lux, and the duo
Bicep. As for Czech bands, you can look forward to Midi Lidi, Koňe a Prase, Bert & Friends and Mutanti hledaj východisko.

A new, health-focused kindergarten has opened in Prague. It offers children a wholesome and modern environment with plenty of sunshine and fresh air.

Beránek Kindergarten is located in Novodvorská Street in Prague 4 and solves one of today’s biggest problems: the presence of unhealthy substances in ordinary buildings.

According to experts, very young children are especially sensitive to the environment in which they spend their time. Sufficient activity in sunny and ventilated interiors has a positive effect on their mental and physical health. Such a space is offered by the “healthy kindergarten” Beránek.

Here, children breathe air that is free of carbon dioxide, volatile organic compounds, dust, or mold. “The kindergarten is equipped with a forced ventilation system with heat recovery, thanks to which there is fresh air in the kindergarten all day without harmful volatile substances, which are typically excreted from toys and furniture, and high concentrations of carbon dioxide. Thanks to the green roof and exterior blinds, the kindergarten does not overheat on hot summer days,” Petr Valeš from JRD Development describes.

“The kindergarten is equipped with healthy full-spectrum lighting, which better mimics natural sunlight, and thanks to it, children can concentrate better. The kindergarten is built in a passive energy standard, so it is environmentally friendly and at the same time saves on operating costs, “added Valeš.

In the kindergarten there is a dining room, changing rooms, sanitary facilities and classrooms, which serve as both playrooms and bedrooms.

The building has also full-spectrum lighting, which is more beneficial to human vision than incandescent lamps. During the construction, workers used formaldehyde-absorbing materials.

In addition, the green roof of the building contributes to the absorption of dust particles, the improvement of sound and thermal insulation and the development of local biodiversity.

There are 66 healthy flats in this building, there is a playground, community gardens and smart benches that use solar energy so that people can recharge their mobile phone or connect to the Internet while sitting.

“In all localities where we operate, we identify the needs of local people and try to bring such functions that will support the neighborhood and the emergence of the community. Therefore, we decided to implement a kindergarten. JRD is a company that has been pushing the standards of healthy and friendly living in the Czech Republic for twenty years, and we also approached the design of the Healthy Kindergarten in Libuš,” added Petr Valeš.

Many hope that a new expansion of the metro system will better connect Libuš to the greater Prague area. As of now, the Kindergarten is only connected by bus lines.

Vanessa Van Cartier, the current reigning winner of DragRace Holland, will be in town performing at PM Club on the evening of Saturday, July 9th for a one-night-only engagement.

The show and party, appropriately named Vanessa Van Cartier: One Night in Prague, will be organized by local queer event and show production company The Gay Agenda.

DragRace Holland, one of the many international spin-offs of the USA-based original RuPaul’s DragRace, began in 2020 to showcase the talents and skills of the Dutch-speaking drag artists of the Netherlands and Belgium.

Vanessa is the Belgian-born performer who managed to snatch the crown in 2021 and claim the title of Holland’s Next Drag Superstar. Her arrival in Prague marks the first time a winner of a European DragRace franchise will be performing in the Czech Republic.

Although she’s now known internationally as the winner of the second season of the Dutch-iteration of DragRace, Vanessa Van Cartier’s work was known years prior before gracing tv screens in the Dutch-speaking world.

In 2019 she won the Miss Continental pageant in the United States, which is the country’s largest and most influential female-illusion competition and pageant. In addition, in 2019 she also won the Miss Continental-Europe pageant, the European version of the original US-based pageant.

She’s the first contestant in the history of the pageant to win both the US and European pageants in the same year. Fluent in French, Italian, and Dutch, and conversational as well in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, she also holds the distinction of being the first European contestant to win Miss Continental USA.

Vanessa is also well-known as a trans-right activist throughout Belgium and the Netherlands, as she herself is a trans woman. She’s only the
third trans contestant in the world to win a DragRace franchise and wears that distinction with pride. The organizer behind the event, The Gay Agenda, will be bringing Vanessa in July from Amsterdam to Prague to give fans of drag and DragRace two special performances from her at PM Club near Botanická Zahrada.

In addition to our DragRace Holland winner headlining this show on July 9th, she’ll be joined by an international lineup of drag and burlesque
performers. The current lineup includes performances by Aladdin Jane, Chlorophyll Von Needle, Dima Arrest, Galeb, Hayley the Strange, Melancholia Blackbile, Miss Cool Cat, Sam Noskow, and Zorya Blue.

The evening will be hosted in English by the producer and director of The Gay Agenda, Jackson Smith. Tickets will be available until the day of
the show, including special VIP tickets that include a meet and greet session and private photo opportunity with Vanessa before the show.

The first round of the presidential election in the Czech Republic will be held on Jan. 13-14, 2023, announced the President of the country’s Senate, Milos Vystrcil.

The head of the upper house of the Czech Parliament is bound by law to set the presidential election date so that a possible runoff vote can take place at least 30 days before the incumbent president’s term expires.

Current Czech President Milos Zeman’s second five-year term ends in early March. About 20 people have announced their presidential bids, according to local media.

General Petr Pavel has confirmed that he will run in the presidential election.

The general told the media that he is collecting signatures in support of his candidacy from the general public and is expecting to make an official announcement in August.

General Petr Pavel is considered a hot contestant for the top post. Opinion polls suggest that he alone has the chance to beat the former Czech prime minister, Andrej Babiš, in the second round of presidential elections.

Babiš has not yet officially confirmed his candidacy, but the likelihood that he will run is reported to be high.

In the Czech Republic, the candidate with the absolute majority of valid votes is elected president. If no candidate receives a majority of the votes cast, a second-round will take place in 14 days.

A citizen who is eligible to vote and has reached the age of 40 may be elected President of the Republic. In the Czech Republic, the term of office of the President is 5 years.

No one may be elected more than twice in succession, nor may a citizen be elected who has been punished for treason or for gross violation of the Constitution or any other part of the constitutional order.

To be eligible to stand as a candidate, at least 20 deputies or 10 senators, or at least 50 000 citizens must sign a petition.

The election shall be held during the last sixty days of the term of office of the incumbent President of the Republic, but not later than thirty days before the expiry of his term of office. If the office of the President of the Republic becomes vacant, the election shall be held within ninety days.
