Czechia is set to experience a drop in temperatures next week, with the possibility of snow, even at lower altitudes, for the first time this season. Meteorologists warn that the pleasant autumn weather we’ve enjoyed recently will soon be replaced by a cold front sweeping in from the north. So far, the second half of October has been relatively mild, with comfortable autumn temperatures. However, according to meteorologists, cold air will begin flowing into Central Europe, significantly lowering temperatures. “The snowfall limit could drop rapidly from the current 3,000 meters to just 300 meters,” meteorologists from the Weather portal predict. A baby Rothschild giraffe, one of the rarest giraffe species in the world, was born at the Safari Park Dvůr Králové in the Czech city of Dvůr Králové nad Labem. Remembering Prague’s First Jewish Deportation: 83 Years Later

On Wednesday, October 16, Prague marked a somber anniversary: the deportation of Jewish citizens during the Nazi occupation. Exactly 83 years ago, on October 16, 1941, the first group of civilians sentenced to the so-called “Final Solution” were sent from the now-defunct Praha-Bubny railway station to Poland. The first train was headead for the Łódź ghetto, carrying around a thousand Jewish men, women, and children. Out of those deported, only 24 survived. Throughout the course of World War II, approximately 50,000 Jewish citizens from Prague were transported via Bubny station to German and Polish concentration camps. The vast majority did not return. The deportations were preceded by a series of harsh, discriminatory policies. Jews were allowed to take no more than 50 kg of personal belongings. Before departure, they were forced to hand over their remaining possessions, including the keys to their homes. Preparation for deportation typically took three to four days. Strong Winds to Sweep Across Czechia, Meteorologists Warn

The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) has issued a warning for strong winds expected to hit the country starting Sunday night. Czech Government Plans Coal Phase-Out by 2033 and Oil and Gas by 2050

Fisherman Catches the Largest Catfish in Czech History

Jakub Vágner, a renowned figure in Czech sport fishing, has achieved a new milestone, catching the largest catfish ever recorded in the Czech Republic with a rod. The fish measured an impressive 2.64 meters, breaking the national record. The remarkable catch took place in the Vranovská přehrada (Vranov Reservoir) near the city of Znojmo (South Moravia). VIDEO: Man Escapes Through Tram Window in Brno, Leaves Passport Behind

An unusual incident took place on the afternoon of September 29 in Brno. A foreign passenger, reportedly Russian-speaking, was caught riding a tram without a valid ticket. When asked to pay a fine, the man decided to flee in an unexpected manner—by slipping through a narrow tram window. Before making his daring escape, the man had handed his passport to the ticket inspectors so they could issue a fine receipt. However, in his haste to get away, he left the document behind. Despite his quick getaway, his passport remained with the ticket inspectors, who later handed it over to the police. “Fare dodgers often try to escape, but this is the first time someone has done so through a window,” said Hana Tomastíková, a spokesperson for the Brno Transport Company.
