The 16th edition of the traditional French Market will take place this year from Thursday 13 July to Sunday 16 July in the gardens of Troja Castle.
Visitors can look forward to forty exhibitors, more space to relax, and a rich accompanying program for families with children.
“The decision to move the French Market to a new location was not easy for us. We have spent fifteen years on Kampa and have many fond memories of the location, but the ever-growing popularity of the event made it impossible for us to provide the visitors, who last year numbered more than 60,000, with such comfort we could have imagined. That is why this year, for the first time, we will move to the gardens of Troja Castle, which we immediately fell in love with,” says Thomas Bouton, founder and main organizer of the French Market.
Troja Castle and its adjacent garden and park create a magical atmosphere that visitors will offer more greenery and places to relax so that they can enjoy the best of France during their visit.
“This year we will offer visitors more than 170 seats, there will also be tables, comfortable lounge chairs, and three new pétanque courts,” adds Thomas Bouton.
The chateau is located within walking distance of the popular Stromovka Park, in the immediate vicinity of Prague ZOO and the botanical garden. People can simply go for a walk, bike ride, or take advantage of the frequent bus connections and enjoy the real France at the chateau.
Alternatively, visitors can travel to the French Market in a slightly different way – on board a boat or a steamer and still take away a great experience. A regular boat service departs from Rašín’s Quay and the journey to the boat dock on Emperor’s Island near Troja Castle takes a bit more than 1 hour.
A total of 39 exhibitors and producers of French regional specialties will be present every day from 11:00 to 22:00 (10:00 on weekends).
Visitors can enjoy traditional food such as oysters, Bourgogne snails, frog legs, a selection of regional cheeses, hams and cured sausages, duck delicacies such as foie gras, but there will also be the popular French savory pies and delicate pastries.
Of course, you will find a wide range of white, rosé, red and sparkling wines from traditional varieties grown in the most famous wine regions such as Alsace, Burgundy, Bordeaux, Champagne, and the Loire, wines from lesser-known indigenous varieties and, more recently, French microbrewery beers.
