Hairdressers to Reopen on May 3

Hairdressers in the Czech Republic are reopening for business, along with pedicures, manicures, spas, and rehabilitation centers on Monday, May 3.

However, it must be noted that both staff and clients will have to follow certain safety rules and guidelines. First, each member of staff will have to work with only one client at a time.

In addition to this, social distancing must still take place, with customers and clients having a distance of 2 metres between them. Lastly, all clients must either be fully vaccinated, have a negative COVID test or proof of having had the virus in the last 90 days.

Antigen tests are valid for 72 hours after collection, PCR tests for seven days.

The Czech government will allow the reopening of all shops, markets, and selected cultural facilities from May 3. The minister of industry and trade, Karel Havlíček, said such changes could occur if the number of cases fell to below 100 per 100,000 inhabitants weekly.

Latest statistics

The health ministry recorded 1,305 and 820 new COVID-19 infections, respectively, on Saturday and Sunday, down from 1,521 and 833 cases over the previous weekend.

The official death toll has risen to 29,002, increasing by 82 on the weekend, which also includes revisions to previous days, according to ministry data.

Of the more than 900,000 who have received both COVID-19 vaccine shots, 2,993 have been infected after the second shot.

Of those, 1,414 were infected more than two weeks after the second shot while 127 had a serious case, according to Institute of Health Information and Statistics data.
