GALLERY: Prague Finishes Construction of the First Metro Line D Station

The Prague Transport Company (DPP) has finished building the Olbrachtova station, marking the first completed stop on the new Metro Line D.
While Olbrachtova is now structurally complete, work continues on the nearby Pankrác D station, which is expected to be finished by the second quarter of 2026, according to DPP’s press release.
Construction on Olbrachtova officially began on February 17, 2023, and was completed on schedule. The new station includes both escalator tunnels that will eventually lead to the northern and southern vestibules.
The first section of Line D now has all road and technical tunnels excavated, including the connection between Lines C and D, a key part of Prague’s expanding underground network.
Progress on the Pankrác D station is nearing completion, with less than 16 percent of the work remaining.
According to DPP, finishing the southern vestibule’s load-bearing structure will make it possible to reopen part of Na Strži Street—between Antala Staška and Olbrachtova—by mid-December.
Traffic will resume with one lane in each direction. “This will reduce the construction site around the Na Strži and Antala Staška intersection, ease congestion in Prague 4, and improve overall traffic flow,” the company said.
