From August 5 to 11, Prague will host the 14th annual Prague Pride Festival, with this yearโ€™s main theme centered around family.

Organizers describe the event as โ€œa refreshing cocktail of queer culture, entertainment, and human rights activism.โ€ This yearโ€™s festival is supported by three government members, the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, and other notable figures.

โ€œWe want to show that family is not defined by blood relation. What makes a family is love, mutual respect, and unconditional acceptance. Therefore, a family does not always have to be people who are connected by genes,โ€ explains Kamila Frรถhlichovรก, the festival director.

She believes that a loving family can also be friends who support a person, give them a sense of belonging, and whom they have chosen themselves.

Events will take place at nine main venues, including Pride Village on Stล™eleckรฝ ostrov, Pride Cinema at Edison Filmhub, and an exhibition at Pride Gallery on Vodiฤkova Street. A new addition this year is Pride Youth at the Skautskรฝ institute in Kampa park, focusing on events for young people. The festival will culminate on Saturday, August 10, with the Pride Parade, subtitled โ€œA March for Every Family.โ€

Pride Park on Letnรก will introduce a recommended admission fee to help the festival become more financially independent. Entry fees will be 100, 300, and 500 crowns.

โ€œHowever, Pride Park will not be surrounded by any fence. It will remain accessible to everyone, regardless of whether they decide to make a donation. We rely on the good spirit of our visitors,โ€ Frรถhlichovรก said.
