Prague Morning
Prague has received higher visitor satisfaction ratings than Vienna and Berlin, according to the latest Global Tourist Perception Index by Data Appeal Mabrian Intelligence.
The Czech capital scored 92.7 out of 100, compared with 85.6 for Vienna and 78.4 for Berlin, Prague City Tourism (PCT) announced on Thursday.
The results reflect six years of efforts to improve tourism services, visitor experiences and the city’s destination branding, the organization said during International Customer Service Week, held from October 5 to 9.
The Global Tourist Perception Index assesses several aspects of the visitor experience, including hotel satisfaction, safety and tourism products. Prague scored highest among the three capitals, according to PCT.
Visitor spending rises as tourism shifts upmarket
Data from Mastercard transactions indicate that spending by visitors from key foreign markets increased by 18% in the first half of 2026 compared with the same period last year, while the number of visitors rose by approximately 1%.
Social media analysis also points to Prague’s growing association with culture. More than a third of social media posts shared by visitors about the city focused on art and culture, an increase of around five percentage points year-on-year. Nightlife accounted for just 4.5% of reported reasons for visiting, according to PCT.
The Data Appeal Mabrian Intelligence Platform also gave Prague a score of 80 out of 100 for hotel service satisfaction, ahead of Vienna at 75.8 and Berlin at 71.8.
Figures from hotel data provider STR point to further growth in the market. Between January and August 2026, hotel occupancy in Prague increased by 4.9% year-on-year, while the average room rate rose by 5.1%.
Occupancy reached 84.7% in August. According to a recent overview of Prague’s tourism sector by the Czech Institute of Tourism, the average room rate was approximately €123, rising to €170 in the city center and €241 in the luxury segment.
Prague attracts hotel investors
The city is also gaining ground among hotel investors. According to the Cushman & Wakefield Hotel Investor Compass 2026, published in March, Prague ranks among the 15 most attractive European cities for hotel investment, ahead of Vienna, Zurich and Budapest.
Investor interest in Prague’s hotel market has increased for two consecutive years. In the previous edition of the study, the city recorded the largest year-on-year increase in investor interest among the markets surveyed, at 14%. The latest edition showed a further increase of 7%.
