If you noticed a few works of modern art suddenly on the streets of Prague, you have stumbled across Sculpture Line, a project now in its sixth year.
Sculpture Line will last until September 30. It brings sculptures and other fine artworks from leading domestic and foreign artists also into the streets of Pilsen, Pardubice, Olomouc, Luxembourg or Büdelsdorf.
The main idea of the festival is to present contemporary art to the public of all ages and across all social and educational classes while also helping to make the public space more social.
This year, visitors will see works from domestic as well as foreign sculptors such as Michal Gabriel, Kurt Gebauer, Štefan Milkov, Lukáš Rais or Benedikt Tolar. The organizers, as well as the artists, will focus on content communication and formal sovereignty of individual works. They will also like to broaden the perception of what can be considered as a sculpture.
More works in Prague are at or will be at the Franciscan Garden at Jungmannovo náměstí, the park at Vyšehrad, the Ministry of Culture at Maltézské náměstí, Dancing House, Vojanovy sady, National Theatre’s Piazzetta.
