Meteorologists have warned of heavy snowfall for most parts of Czechia on Sunday.
According to the ČHMÚ, residents in the Český Krumlov, Vimperk, and Prachatice regions should brace for up to 25 centimeters of snow, while other parts of southern Bohemia, including Pilsen, Moravia-Silesia, Olomouc, and Zlín regions, may experience up to 15 centimeters of snowfall.
The warning extends beyond just snow; meteorologists emphasize the likelihood of strong winds, leading to snowdrifts and icy conditions, prompting a continuing flood warning.
The snow alert will be in place for 24 hours, starting on Saturday midnight.
The Czech Hydrometeorological Office anticipates potential calamitous effects on transportation, energy, and industrial sectors due to the heavy snow. Additionally, concerns are raised about the risk of damage to trees, forest covers, and power lines in the event of wet snow.
Southern Moravia may face winds reaching up to 65 kilometers per hour from Sunday to Tuesday, urging caution for both drivers and pedestrians.
As temperatures drop, there’s a risk of frost or ice formation in several regions, including Prague, Central Bohemia, Pilsen, Liberec, Hradec Kralove, Pardubice, Vysočina, and Moravia.
Drifts may also occur in the Olomouc and Moravian-Silesian regions.
In the Ústí nad Labem region, an extreme flood risk is declared, highlighting the potential severity of the weather conditions.
The three-point scale indicates a second-level warning in Český Krumlov, Cheb, and Pardubice, urging residents to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions in the face of the impending winter challenges.
