The first-ever complete-nutrition, plant-based burger patty from Czech food producer Mana is entering the world of gastronomy.

The Prague-based company, which specializes in the development and manufacture of functional foods, has already received pre-orders for nearly one hundred thousand frozen patties.

Since the end of May, the ManaBurger has also been available through online supermarket Košík.cz. Now, the renowned Prague burger bar Belzepub will be the first and only restaurant to offer it on their menu. Customers will be able to enjoy it both at the restaurant, or at home via Wolt food delivery service.

“It took us three years to develop this burger. We sought the highest-quality ingredients and determined a unique manufacturing process, thanks to which we can now introduce the world’s first nutritionally-balanced, plant-based alternative to meat,” says Mana creator and co-founder Jakub Krejčík.

“After loads of trial and error, we successfully arrived at a taste and texture that is indistinguishable from that of real meat, yet the production of one Mana Burger uses half the energy and 1% of the water required to produce its beefy counterpart. Plus, it contains all the nutrients your body needs to live. We don’t believe there’s a healthier plant burger out there,” he adds.

Belzepub is a locale with a unique atmosphere and long history in the center of Prague’s Žižkov district, which over the last eight years has evolved from a beer bar to a restaurant that offers exclusively plant-based foods. It’s burgers and hot dogs have received excellent ratings, and it is now considered to be one of the best vegan restaurants in Prague.

“We started off making our own plant burger patties for ecological and ethical reasons. Now we have the opportunity to offer the ManaBurger, which tastes great. And since it’s the first nutritionally complete burger in the world, we can now offer it for health reasons as well,” says Belzepub co-owner Daniela Michalová.

A Burger Patty with All Essential Nutrients

Mana’s new burger is produced by food scientists and biochemists at its headquarters in Prague’s Uhříněves district. It is composed of premium ingredients, which are tested in state-certified laboratories. The burger (130 g) provides 20 g of high-quality protein from peas, rice, hemp, mung beans, and algae. It is also high in fiber (4.2 g), rich in omega-3 DHA and EPA fatty acids, and delivers a primarily unsaturated, 22-g mix of 5 different oils: algae oil, coconut oil, flaxseed oil, sunflower oil, and canola oil. Sugar content is very low. One burger with no bun contains only 4 g of complex carbohydrates, and is therefore well-suited to the keto diet.

The company’s scientists have packed 14 vitamins and 24 minerals into the burger, making it a perfectly balanced multivitamin in an unconventional form. One portion gives the body and brain 159 health benefits according to the scientific evaluations of the EFSA (European Food Safety Authority).

The Mana burger also has low sodium content, unlike many other plant-based burgers. It contains natural dyes from beetroot and red pepper, while the darker tones after cooking comes from caramel. The burger has no added glutamate, no animal products, no gluten, and no GMO.
