Karlovo náměstí is a public space of city-wide importance and one of the pivotal sites in the Prague Heritage Reservation.
It is currently under reconstruction, and it should turn into a better place for pedestrians by the end of the summer.
New trees also make sitting on the bench encompassing the whole park more pleasant. It is followed by an extended staircase in the middle of the southern part of the park, which offers a comfortable entrance into the park.
The new paved area in front of the town hall will create a sizeable square that can be used for regular markets, weddings or other events.
A new park centre will be the multi-functional fountain area and café at the southern end, where the city meets the interior park landscape.
The northeastern edge of the square now has an expanded sidewalk paved with Prague mosaic, an alley of trees along the axis of the town hall tower, and longitudinal two-way benches. When strolling along the promenade, openings onto the park interior alternate with landscaped lilac stands.
